A bit of yes and a bit of no.

Boxings a weird sport as most of the top players have all done unsavoury things going all the way back to the start. Most top boxers come from rough backgrounds and that carries across sometimes.

I find it easier to respect a boxers skills rather than them personally. (Good question though D)

What makes a make, a trained boxer no less want to punch women in their head, and women they are meant to love.

What makes a trained boxer (and one who earns a fortune) want to cheat on the missus he loves, run dog fights when he's minted, rape, assault, murder, sell drugs etc etc etc etc etc.

I think the violence towards women one is more relevant to a boxer. You are a trained fighter, your hands are lethal weapons, yet you attack a woman who is not a trained fighter.

Domestic violence is wrong in every case but when the perpetrator is a trained fighter it makes it much much worse.

Don't get me wrong D4, i'm not condoning it in the slightest. But at the end of the day none of the top boxers are looked at by that (If memory serves, SRR was the same.)

Yes, SRR was just as bad if not worse.

But it was hushed up a lot in those days.
The public know all about Floyd

I'm not D4's biggest fan and if you take away that it's a dig at Floyd then it's not a bad debate on

1. Should we class boxers as role models
2. If not, where do we draw a line or
3. Do we just ignore it.

At least lets hold them to the same standards we hold footballers to, or other sporting icons.

Have you seen what footballers get up to and then get welcomed back with open arms.

It's highlighted more (as it should be) with boxing due to the sport they do.
Something should be done about it but when your dealing with people (like Manny and Floyd) that generate that amount of money then it isn't gonna happen.

Good point.

I was appalled how Marlon King case was handled he should have been kicked out of football.

There seems to nothing done in boxing, nor does boxing want to do anything to tackle these problems.

Lets not forget what happened to Valero's wife.

They were to Lucas Matthysse.

I don't agree with you often, but I do think more should be done about any boxer acting like that (assaulting men/women/children etc) Once they hit the big time, there should be something in place to help some of them out as some are quite obviously 'damaged' good due to childhood issues.
