Is it only old cants who vote tory?
If so, have they always voted for them or is there an age where no matter how you voted before your brain will make you vote tory? Or, is it something in your water/food that only activates after X number of elections.

And still nobody on this thread finds the prejudices displayed against older voters problematic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are just firmly behind the " Fet Brexit done" mantra.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All of them?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not all of them. However, a majority are pro-Brexit and pro-Tory. Polls always have them coming out much more in favour of those things than any other generation.

They also vote in great numbers, probably more so than any other generation. Obviously, it isn't their fault that other generations have a lower turnout (although I think that shows how disengaged younger generations have become because of not feeling like it makes a difference), but it does seem like their opinions become over represented in the electorate because of it.

I remember reading the same in the 60's ironically.
Older folk have always voted in larger %ages.
I also know a lot of old lefties who look at young people as obsessed with wealth.
I just don't believe in painting a group of very different people as all being and voting the same way.
I find it lazy. But I'm old, so what do I know?

It is lazy to classify an entire group. It is also lazy to ignore trends within that demographic though. There is a very clear trend with the over 60s group.

A very very clear trend, in the 80%'s or so i believe amongst a certain age group.

Although the war generation was more pro remain than leave, they got lumped in with all the boomers in the demographics and labeled as old racists. So I really do take the point.

Political highlight of the day for me was Gary Neville on Saturday Night Football having a crack at Britain Trump for fuelling racism

Seen them labelled as the silent generation

I guess it's worth bearing in mind the original referendum for going into the EEC was 68% in favour of going in

I believe so

However, and I didnt know this until recently, Labour pledged in their 1983 manifesto to take Britain out of the EEC so their must have been some division on the issue in their ranks.

That's remembered as a very misjudged manifesto though

If you search for the 1983 manifesto one of the first things that comes up is a quote referring to it as 'the longest suicide note in history'

Long standing fears over workers rights seems to be the main issue

Was still an issue for Corbyn back when Dave was renegotiating before the referendum

Good for political history shows though

Maybe, don't really watch any of those. He spends the whole of an interview interrupting though and trying to put words into people's mouths rather than letting them explain themselves.

So I guess Boris is a definite no show for Andrew Neil?

posted on 8/12/19

Of course Boris won't. Like Trump, he will deliberately try to avoid all scrutiny. That's why he has banned the Mirror from his bus too.

Just cause he opened his hotel for the homeless to sleep in he thinks it gives him done for of superior moral authority...

Oh wait.... actually it does. Happy to judge him by his actions.
