Migrants aren't pushing up your rent, your landlord is.

Immigrants aren't decreasing your wages, your boss is.

Also is it illegal for the French navy to transport migrants over to our shores?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Home Office said both Home Secretary Priti Patel and the French interior minister were committed to stopping Channel crossings.

The government also claimed the French Navy had been following international law, saying: "It would be illegal to intervene with the boat. Instead, the navy is committed by law to save lives at sea, and consequently shadows boats that are at risk."

The dates don't match. That report is from May, the latest accusation is now.

Also, what are you expecting the French authorities to say? It's a fair cop, guv.

apologies, didnt realise the law of the sea changed in the last few weeks.

They aren't "trafficking" them over the channel.

Blarmy, have you ever heard of any book(s) relating to drug use amongst soldiers through history. My curiosity was piqued when I saw a doc about Axis and Allied use of Benzedrine during WWII. I remember stories of Vikings using flygarrick(sp), and alcohol must have been used since it's discovery/invention. Just wondering if there is any studies or documentation of it.

Dan Carlin quotes a book about Napoleon the day before Waterloo, he had stomach pains or something so was given laudenaum (sp?), the next day he slept late which he never did and was groggy.
The master tactician was stoned and discombobulated.

My Missus masters was on the sacred pools in late bronze early Iron age, the ritualistic throwing of valuables, swords sand trinkets of value, animal offerings for healing etc

La Tene is the big place at the time but she was based in Armagh.

Barry Cunliffe for the Celtic stuff.

First rule of the sea is that you don't do anything to put others lives at risk, it's impossible for the French navy to "turn" these boats around so they escort them until our ships take over to ensure they are safe, the French alert us to where the boats are.

Its not like the French are giving them the dingys and tugboating them across the channel, they are following maritime law and so are we.

Pulled over for a "vehicle check" and both reasons were demonstrably false. In lieu of an *ACTUAL* reason to pull her over I don't blame her for assuming it's race based given the number of times more likely you are to be stopped and searched as a BAME citizen than a white one.

I think the ranking officer in charge of the area did the right thing in reaching out

Nah i dont know much about drug use in history like that soq

I always suspected more often than not ancient soldiers would have sneaked some alcohol in before battle. There are the classic tales of getting your enemy drunk on purpose, the Romans liked that one.

“ In particular, the Swedish example helps to correct a philosophical error that dominates the Covid-19 debate in the UK and the US: that if you are resistant to draconian policies to counter the pandemic, you must be a die-hard libertarian— at best, devoted to individual freedom over the common good, at worst, straightforwardly selfish. I believe Sweden shows how the opposite can be true: it is precisely because the Swedes want to preserve the common good and are proud of their shared way of life that they have been reluctant to infringe it.

INTERVIEW: ANDERS TEGNELL
Why we aren't wearing masks in Sweden
BY FREDDIE SAYERS
I’d go further. The fragmented and highly individualistic culture of the UK and US, without much by way of universally shared values to fall back on, is a big part of why the response in those countries has been so uncertain and the debate so poisonous. Without habits and values that are commonly deemed morally good and too precious to give up, what remains when a new threat such as Covid-19 arrives? If the only unassailable moral good is saving lives, the “precautionary principle” becomes almost impossible to argue against. Well-meaning people find they have surrendered their whole way of life to its dubious authority.”

Interesting...

we will end up taxiing the boats back towards france
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That would be illegal, wouldn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hasn't stopped France doing that to us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't understand what you mean. Have they been illegally stopping refugees from crossing the Channel from England to France?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they have been helping them move from one safe country (France) to another country which is in fact 2 laws broken.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which laws?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trafficking people in general and trafficking people away from a safe country. Just because it is state sponsored doesn't make it any different to what it is when common crooks do it - human trafficking.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’ve been helping?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are multiple reports of French navy escorting migrant boats to the UK. In the grand scheme of things it really isn't that big a deal, just funny to me that when a country does it it's heroic and when an African people trafficker does it it's dispicable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Source that's not a Right Wing nationalist propaganda rag?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is the telegraph ok for you or is anything to the right of The Canary a far right n azi publication?
