Don't get me wrong i think leaving the EU would the biggest mistake since Hitler flipped a coin and said "heads we invade Britain, tails and it's Russia".

He tried doing both

Invading Britain would have been a disaster!

Their plans for an invasion were quite frankly amateur compared to the d day landings which themselves offered no gaurentee of success.

If the Russian winter hadn't done them then the English Channel would have...

Also there's the fact that Russia were arming themselves at the time and the longer the Natzis didn't attack Russia the stronger they would be when the inevitable conflict between the two did happen.

Wildly inaccurate.

Russia was massively underprepared for war and in fact had intended to stay out the war as long as possible so as to swoop in at the end and claim victory, thus giving them greater scope to spread communism across the West.

Russia being ill-prepared allowed the Germans to Moscow's doorstep.

What did England offer Germany anyway? Taking France was good enough to solve their post-war issues in Europe. Hitler was a bit of a maniac i reckon

Ivan you called it wildy inaccurate but then agreed with me?!

They were massively underprepared but they weren't sitting still, they were slowly getting prepared ...

Which is why I said the longer the Natzis waited the stronger Russua would have become...

Also you agree that they would have swooped in at the end...

Which agrees with my inevitable conflict between the two line?!?

You called it wildly inaccurate and then agreed with everything I said... Which is quite confusing...

Robert we were already at war at that point, if Britain stayed out if the war Hutler would have been happy enough.

Stalin didn't even believe the attack had begun by which time the frontline forces were smashed and his purging of the generals before the war left them in total disarray.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I hear they executed a German deserter who warned then an invasion was about to start..

I think Stalin thought Hitler wasn't that crazy, serves him right for underestimating Hitlers insanity

You made it sound like they were pretty much ready for war. They were massively under-prepared.

I will downgrade it from wildly inaccurate to inaccurate though.

Well what I was getting it was as every day passed Russia was getting more prepared for the war which is completely accurate, I never made out that they were brilliantly prepared at that point....

Nah i don't think he really did......i don't think he needed to listen to Goring.....i think they could've successfully carried out Sea Lion without wiping out the RAF.....

Am glad he was just a Lance Corporal or we would've been screwed

In fairness after the brilliant start to the war I think Hitler started to believe his own hype.

Not 100% on this but as I understand it there was some disagreement regarding the original plan to invade France amongst the German generals but after their stunning victories the naysayers either got pushed to the side or kept their mouths shut.

Fortunately success bred arrogance which caused then to misstep.
