No sir, it affected some past teams. And that has very little bearing on the current team to be honest so i don't know why you are pontificating.

Spain also had a lot of social issues which also affected the country and their teams a lot; their golden generation dealt with and went on to achieve unparalleled success.

Before anyone jumps down my throat, i am not equating this Belgian team to the Spanish team; i am merely dismissing certain opinions and attempts at clairvoyance.

Belgium, quite literally, have sections of fans doing chants in different languages in their stands during games. It's a big deal if a Belgian coach takes over whether he's Belgian or French Belgian.

This isn't like Spain vs Catalonia, where it's the people who identify as Spanish against those who identify as Catalan.

Both sets of people feel that they are truly "Belgian", and the others aren't.

This affects their national team in a way English don't have a way of understanding. It's like asking the Scots and Welsh to join us and play as Britain - sort of. It would not work.

The Swiss national team is even more political oddly enough.

Isn't the Swiss team full of Albanians?

I think I'm right in saying Switzerland has 4 or 5 official languages and each community expects equal representation in the national team.

Belgium are weak full back, but a defence with Courtois, Kompany, Vertonghen and Alderweireld can certainly not be labelled poor
