I retract what I said about Last Kingdom

Season 2 is absolutely brilliant

And the character development is surprisingly well balanced

Glad you're coming round Blarms. I really enjoyed Last Kingdom and season 4 is coming out very soon as well.

Moving Bond back to November does seem extreme. I'm not particularly hyped about it and I get the feeling others aren't either, especially after the very so so Spectre. Maybe they're hoping that it might have gained more interest and momentum by then.

I personally liked spectre.... I thought the end was a little bit weak...but I guess we should get to see Christophe waltz again in the new one

Much preferred King Alfred in Last Kingdom than King Alfred in Vikings as well. No idea which was more historically accurate. Alfred in Last Kingdom with all his health issues and character flaws seems the more believable though.

His steadfast and idealistic attachment to both Christian teachings and the law reflects the accounts we have had passed down Superb

I think his portrayal in Vikings is weird tbh, I dont like the actor and they changed way too much of the history

You know I didn't find Christophe Waltz as Blofeld particularly intimidating or believable. He just seemed like a baddie straight out of Austin Powers. Not a patch on Le Chiffre in Casino Royale.

As a history obsessive, I just don't like vikings at all, I see them as vandals.

Blarms I didn't like the way Vikings portrayed Alfred as the chosen one. As if it was always known he'd become a great king. Thought that was daft tbh.

Yeah I know what you mean he had a certain menace in him... But I felt bond got the better of him far too easily...And the helicopter crash scene was just a bit meh

I hope the new film is going to go somewhere to get in near casino royale which is not been bettered

I'm also one of the few that likes quantum of solace

Casino Royale is the best Bond film there has ever been.

Philip sent a message to the Spartans saying “If I invade Lakonia you will be destroyed, never to rise again.” The Spartans replied with one word, “If.”

They were cool. It's hard to deny it

As it happens in that context Philip of Macedon would have had little trouble defeating them but still

Sheriff I just think it's a shame that they didn't take the franchise in the direction that it was going in Casino Royale where it was more gritty, realistic and relatable. Basically when they were trying to copy the Bourne series

By the time we get to Spectre I thought the franchise had reverted to pastiche of silly Bond movies of bygone eras where Blofeld has an elaborate hi-tec lair with a bunch of mindless dopes working for him ready to destroy the world etc.

Being the cynic I am, maybe the Bond move, is a coverup, more than face masks I tell ya.
Isn’t it the trend of the Bond franchise to write on the go.
Think it’s well documented the chaos of the last film.
I always felt the climax of Skyfall was an afterthought, a reshoot maybe, ala Die Hard with a Vengeance.
I’ve always found it bizarre Brocolli works in this fashion. You have one franchise, how can you not have a finished script of some kind, before production.
What the hell is the Bond Think Tank doing in the years in between films. They have ‘All the time in the World’ to prep.
Maybe NTTD is a right mess, and needs reshoots/rewrites... maybe.
