I am enjoying Barbarians. I have a weakness for any Roman based tv show

They are though imagining the Germanic side of things because we have literally no idea what their side of the events was as all the sources are Roman perspective

Like with Spartacus tv show its weird watching a show where if they tell the story to completion it does not end too well for the protagonists

Do they make many good comedy films anymore? Trying to find some on Netflix but not really having much luck.

I've watched a couple of Adam Sandler films - the Do Over and Murder Mystery. Both as to be expected.

Any suggestions?

What kind of comedy?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Who rates it today?

To be honest, it is so routinely panned I actually think it's scale, scope and at the time ground-breaking visual effects are no longer given the credit it deserves.

Is it one of James Cameron's best films? No.
Is it a great film, in general? No.
Did it deserve Best Picture at the Oscars in 1998? No.

But, is it a great cinematic achievement that struck a huge emotional chord with people? Yes.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its overrated by my friends who love it and I have to hear about it whenever a favourite film discussion comes up

Cameron could have used the scope and visual effects on a better script

It was seen as a perfect dating movie coupled with lots of hype. Instantly forgettable for me.

Like I said above, for me Succession is the best TV show around at the moment. Outstanding.

where's this on...sounds my cup of tea actually...

One to see is the Newsroom (about 8 years old) but compelling
Jeff Daniels is brilliant in that...he sets the whole set scene in the very first episode when he addresses a room of students

One asks him "what makes America great"

He goes off into a brilliant diatribe on what makes America not great...It had me at hello
