Just watched Greenland on Amazon with Gerard Butler. I thought it was a fantastic Disaster movie. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same. But I have a soft spot for disaster films.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Very good wasn’t it and scary actually. Could happen to be honest.

I’m no expert but I’m not sure it could happen the way the film portrayed it. The meteor basically came from nowhere and caught everyone by surprise. Though obviously in reality the governments wouldn’t tell the population the world was about to end until it was about to end!
Absolute Power 6/10.
Watched as I’d read the book, which was more enjoyable than the film.

Watched it last night and its stuck with me, always a good thing is it not?
Maybe it's just the moment we're living in but imo its quite relatable, the global feeling of powerlessness to the forces of nature.
One thing that struck me, the military and TV/radio presenters stayed in-post, would they?
Yeh i got to admit, I was very intrigued by it and how accurate it would be say we had a big rock heading towards earth and causing destruction, would we get the same thing on our TV’s and phones etc? I personally think we have the technology and know how these days to possibly deflect it or at least know how dangerous it would be. In the film, they initially seemed to portray it being minimal impact, hence why families were watching on news together. Great film.
I enjoyed Greenland too, not sure why it has relatively low scores on the usual places.
I know. I think 6.1 or what ever it is on IMDb, is pretty low for a very good film. I mean it’s no Oscar winner don’t get me wrong, but Armageddon is close to 7.0 on IMDb, Greenland should be too
Most user reviews slam it for it having all the cliches of other disaster films. Well, ffs, it IS a disaster film so there are going to be some shots of world landmarks collapsing etc
Then they slam it for following a family, why can't it just be about the disaster? BECAUSE THEN IT WOULD JUST BE A DOCUMENTARY!
I hate people.

Watched that good movie.
I will watch this Greenland of which ye all speak
Watched Layer cake all the way through for the first time...very good
Never realised Ben Wishaw (Bond connection) was in it, Tom Hardy could have done with a bigger part, mind you I guess it's getting on for 18 years old now as a film
Loved the other Bond connection (Stoke Park golf club) too
I feel like most of your life decisions are based around Bond movies

Greenland was very good and dark too in bits. There was no way to stop the disaster but what they had to do to stay alive was quite unique for a disaster movie.

Didn’t know they’d picked yet?!?!
Just looked, interesting choices.
He must’ve given a great audition, as he doesn’t have that exact Joel look about him in anything I’ve seen.
Most suggestions I’ve seen people wanting are purely based on how they look.
I like both these castings though, she’s a good actress in Thrones for someone young.
Pedro Pascal is a brilliant actor, but agree I can’t really picture him as Joel.
I wonder whether the voice actor for Ellie was considered at all as the people that work with her can’t speak highly enough of her and - in the second, at least - they had to do a lot of physical acting too. Appreciate its two different disciplines, but there is a lot of crossover.
Yeah I didn't see this coming - I read somewhere that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would make a great Joel and that was what I had in my mind. Not exactly disappointed though, I think PP is great.
Not quite as sure about Ellie casting, she was pretty good in GoT though even if her character wasn't all that complex.
Defo casting choices that get me excited rather than make me wary of a badly done adaptation of game.
Hope its better than the game which was boring
