Npe: that’s rough on them. I’ve never liked them for the tactics the use against certain animals, larger whales etc, but I can see how it’s intelligent predation, and they have to do what they do to survive.
I’ve never been to sea world despite being near one with plenty of spare cash to spend many times, partly because I’ve always thought it was helping pay for more captivity for these animals. Seeing the likes of tigers at the zoo is similar, incredible animals locked up, it annoys me. But not as much as retaaarded Asian medicine demanding their parts for bullshiet cures (just die), or fat Americans shooting them for sport (have an accident with your gun please). That really annoys me.

Zoos can fulfil socially and environmentally beneficial purposes, in that there are endangered species that have been rescued by captive breeding programmes and there are many breeds of mammals and lizards that live happier and longer lives in enclosures or at animal sanctuaries.
However, killer whales, and most tiger populations are not suited to zoos, and to be honest SeaWorld is just a water circus, there is no educational, environmental or social benefit to what they are doing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand why people don't like some zoos but they are a force for good when run properly and are there to educate/rehabilitate/save animals rather than being run for profit.

No living thing should live in a cage so that human beings can educate themselves. You can capture and release but zoos are ridiculous IMO. Unless it's for medical research then animals should be free in their natural habitat IMO.

It's unfortunate but it creates awareness and compassion in many cases where there would be none. Considering the cruelty humans are capable of, in addition to the many positive things zoos are doing for these animals at the moment, keeping an animal in a cage as you say is going to do much more good than bad. Luckily the standards continue to increase and, at least over here, it's much more than a cage that animals live in. Of course it's not the standard of its own natural environment but greater good n all that stuff.

Also multiple endangered species have been protected and flourished and lived happier lives in captivity. The end game is minimal zoos but it is perfectly sane and humane solution for protecting animals threatened by poaching, urbanisation, invasive species, climate change etc.
None of that includes orcas though.
