De-aging?! Oh man!!! But how? I mean, have you seen DeNiro kick that guy in The Irishman?
Had the movement of Hans Moleman. I thought the effects most the most part were done well. Especially Joe Pesci.
How they gonna make that work?
Unless????
So I saw an image of a young Indy on a bike, but people said this could be a Flashback. Some were saying it was a mask. So you put that on a young’un, and boom, we got him doing action again.....
This is risky. But they must be confident in the tech to do it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah the risks are huge but presumably they're very confident in their tec. Would have to be better than on the Irishman which had absolutely trashy CGI. YouTube videos have done a better job.

Indiana Jones and the cold winter
Thinking about it a CGI young Indy is the only possible direction they can go with this movie. There's no way we're getting an 80 year old Indiana Jones for a full movie, would be absurd and it simply wouldn't work.

And if Irishman is anything to go by they'd be better off using the infinitely cheaper deepfake tec we see on YouTube vids instead.

I think a CG Indy would be terrible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It really depends on how it looks I guess. The movie will live or die on how good they do it. Can't say I'm overly hopeful. Tarkin in Rogue One looked very ropey so they'll need to up their game massively from that.
At the same time if they've mastered de-aging CG for this movie then it could be brilliant. Not saying they have but it might explain why this movie has been delayed for so long. Just an idea.
Some of the deep fakes are crazy
That fake Tom Cruise is better than the de aged De Niro was
Even the deep fake Skywalker someone did on YouTube for the scene in Mandalorian S2 was better than they managed on the actual episode.
Yeah it does make you wonder why the much much cheaper deep fake tec is so way far ahead of the CG that Hollywood uses. Absolutely plsses all over it.
They could save themselves a fortune and get a much better result if they used it for this movie. Maybe they will who knows.

They should make the whole film look grainy and as if it were shot the same time as the originals, then the deep fake facial expressions etc might not stand out as much as if it's 4K

I thought Tarkin was among the better ones.
I highly doubt it's CGI Indy.
I think Ford wants it to be a reflection of him and his age. It just means the action will be different.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbh I don't think de-aging has been particularly good in any Hollywood movie so far. If anything it looks like the tec might have regressed judging by the Irishman.
I watched Terminator Salvation again recently and even though that's a 12 year old movie the de-aged Arnie was better than the stuff I've seen in more recent movies.

Bigger problem with Irishman was not the facial recognition, even if it is interesting how good some deep fake technology.
Instead, it was the fact DeNiro moved like an 80 year old even when his face was de-aged. The scene were he kicks that man on the curb looked ludicrous.
The lesson here is Indy should embrace his age, the idea of giving him his face at 35 but giving him his current body is ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They don't have to make him as young as 35 necessarily. Also Harrison Ford has kept in excellent shape, I read that during filming for this he's been doing up to 40 mile bike rides every day.
I agree that DeNiro scene looked so weird. Also DeNiro's weird blue eyes looked all wrong. Feck knows who did the effects for that movie
The weird thing is
Aged De Niro in Once upon a time in america using prosthetics wasnt far off his actual old age looks at all
