I don’t get the appeal of Dune

- bland production design
- forgettable score
- muted cinematography
- obvious plotting
- uninteresting action sequences
- goes on forever

I cant correct npes opinion on the actual plot without spoiling the series

The issue is adapting the first half of the book only leaves you woth the wrong impression that dune is a cliche chosen one story

Herbert is also the origin point for a ton of sci fi tropes so if you left thinking ‘ive seen a lot of this before’ its more to do with derivative works than anything else

Me too. Fortunately Dune has been doing well at the worldwide box office so part 2 getting made seems inevitable at this point. Villeneuve has also talked about adapting the second book Dune Messiah into a movie so it may even become a trilogy
