Harry Kane

I like him but we shouldn't be going after players after 1 good season. Also he's a local lad and I can see him wanting to stay at Spurs for a little while before any potential move, he doesn't need to make a big move yet.

he might look at it different, if he has a season or two and hes not hitting the heights promised, then he might never have a chance of joining a team like Utd again?

Wasn't he a boyhood Arsenal fan ?
Need to see him perform for another season I reckon.
Wouldn't go above £25m now

its actually quite a scary thought that they saying Levy would reject a £40 mill offer for one season wonder potentially.. whats worse us bidding that money or levy saying no....

The guy is going to be a top player I reckon. Probably worth £40 million max (based on age, potential and nationality).

Anything more than that is a bit of a rip but not my money so what do I care. If he ends up being a success with is I don't really care what he costs. And face it, we would have paid more for Falcao who right now isn't in Kanes league

FFS, we will be the biggest mugs going if we pay even remotely close to that for him.

and real have apparently bid £13 mil for de gea

Wouldn't surprise me if we paid £50m for him.

I rate him really highly, his technique is quality for an English striker, but the money is ridiculous.

Barkley was being talked about as a £50m player last summer despite not playing much and now after this last season they would be lucky to get much more than £20-£25M so just shows you

Times are changing though. What was £30 million a few years ago is now £40-50 million.

I'm not saying it's a great idea to spend £40 million on any young talent but if they do come and spend 7-8 years banging in goals then it's hardly a waste of money. I like that we're going for someone like Kane rather than unproven (in the PL) players like lacazette. Kane, if he comes, could be the main striker for United and England for the next 10 years. The prices quoted are on the high side but hardly insane.

Do our transfer team walk round with 'Absolute Mugs' written on their foreheads?

The Price of English players really is a disgrace frankly

We should pay £70m for Levy.

He seems really happy at Spurs, he's still only 21 and by his family. I don't see why he would make a move just yet.

He seems a pretty level headed kid and what guarantees could we give him of regular football which he is currently getting?

I agree and personally think he is a quality striker. Luck can only help you for couple of weeks, not for entire season. Still think anything above 30 would be a ripoff considering the risk involved. But as someone else said, woodward has "take my money" written all over his face.

Problem is you could have made the same argument about Shaw - actually lots of people on here did make that argument - and he had an awful season for the most expensive FB in history.

Having said that I think Kane is the real deal, and I don't think £40m would be that stupid. Bear in mind that RVP earns c. £200k a week at United, Kane is apparently on £35k at Spurs, so stick him on £100k a week and over a 5 year contract he would earn £26m less than RVP in wages, which pays for most of the transfer.

My maths may be a bit off, since I was distracted by the story below the Kane one:

There was a story yesterday about how Everton would reject a 32m bid for John Stones

Shaw did have nearly twice as much PL experience though as he had 2 good seasons with Saints.

Think most would be more willing to go for Kane if he produced another good season.

I wouldn't want to buy him for such a high fee yet. There's been many occasions where a player has looked immense one season, then back down to mediocrity for the season after.

I'd rather see how he does for another season. If he has another good season he'll definitely leave Spurs, so not like you or another team wouldn't sign him eventually. He'll just demand to leave Spurs as soon as a big club comes in, especially if he has another good year.

Not many players have amazing seasons when they are out injured for most of it. I find the Shaw bashing bizarre... whenever he played, he did well.
