How anyone calls Coldplay overrated is beyond me. Just about everyone I've met claim they're sheite. Which makes the somewhat underrated if anything. Almost as if a lot of people are too ashamed to admit they like Coldplay - like it would make you uncool.

That's a silly thing to have against them. Everyone is influenced by something. I would hardly call their unique (at the time) blues influenced heavy rock a "rip-off". I'm not even THAT big a fan of them, but there aren't many more influential acts in rock music than Led Zeppelin. Probably only the Beatles.
Led Zepplin weren't just influenced, they were blatant thieves. Arguably the worst of all time.
I don't care though, because they did everything 10x better than the people they stole from and were arguably the GOAT rock band. They're fekking brilliant.

Coldplay are definitely very talented musicians and songwriters. Praise of that is fully justified.
I just think they waste that talent writing songs for depressed women and gay men.
