And I got the 2hunner. I'm logging that in the achievement bank.
I think what bothers me most is people who rave about how 'pioneering' and ahead of their time PF and the Beatles were when they were inspired (copied) the work of other pioneers.
kid baltan & tom dissevelt were miles ahead on the trippy electronic stuff a decade earlier
I doesn't make me like what they did any less (I love both bands), just that the praise and words like pioneer aren't right an are an insult to the ones who really pioneered things. Just not as successfully commercially.
Manufactured boy band? Aye awrite then dìck
Elvis was the beginning of all the good and the great in music.
That is not up for discussion.
That is a great point, Mick, but Presley in the 50's was an enormous influence to many who came later,
Johnson was something else, not taking anything away from his influence either to the above and Richards.
Mick, wasn't a great Elvis fan, without a doubt a fantastic voice, but some of the stuff in the 60's was cringeworthy.
Was a few years after his death when I heard some of his stuff from the 50's, particularly album trax I'd never heard before.
Been hooked ever since.
Gotta say, I've never heard of Robert Johnson. But tomorrow I'll be looking him up.
Any particular tracks available on YouTube etc that I should be going after?

Good start, Miller.
"I've never heard of Robert Johnson"
really old blues
the origin of making a deal with the devil at the crossroads for music talent
at the forefront of his time, but don't expect anything that doesn't sound really old now
"That's the thing, he wasn't at the forefront of anything in his time."
no, but it's the same with many artists whether music or painting. after you're dead people see who was ahead of their time only in hindsight.
popular when alive isn't the same as appreciated after dying
after i'm dead I'll be called the greatest ever

Just listened to Crossroad. Very decent stuff. Can definitely hear bits of artists in it.
Quality of sound is actually good for its time.
"Wumpatrol, just out of curiosity what did you do to get banned from Liverpool board?"
Funny story that. It was during the period when the pool board was overrun with wums. I knew how admin quickly admin would ban people wumming people. So one day I posted an article I thought needed to be multi boarded but even after requesting a multiboard for over hald an hour, I didn't get one. So to check if the admins were online I posted an article on the pool board with "Carrol 35m" knowing I would get a complaint and you know what I got my account pulled within a minute!! Had to beg Admin to ban me from the pool board and let me back onto the site.
