Well, that didn’t take long. Some excellent bowling from England, even if against some very ordinary batting from the Aussies.
A bit of variable bounce and good swing for the bowlers. Will be interesting to see if Australia can hold their chances in the second dig.
Let’s see what he next hour brings, anything more than 250 on the last innings will be hard to chase
luckily we bowled them out quite quickly, would have been awkward if we only had to face 4 or 5 overs before lunch.
Poor from Australia, good play from England, doubt Australia will be able to hold on in this match, will need some rain on Sunday.
didn't realise Cook had exactly 9000 Test runs before the 1st innings.
Yeah, I bet he was gutted to get off the mark
No starc that's interesting going forward.. England get a good foundation here and attack Lyon laters.Australia will be very short in bowling.

Oh hes coming back on

Limping noticeably though
Australia, poor away Test form set to continue.... Look at the last 10 years:
vs SA, WI, Ban, NZ
18W, 2D, 3L
vs Eng, Ind, Pak, SL
4W, 10D, 18L

That's unbelievable
And somehow that form got them to the top of the test rankings
I know they're not any more, but still
Love seeing Cook tuck into short balls
The stat on away form shows the Aussies are very poor on subcontinent type of pitches... So England have it spot on with the prep of Cardiff pitch.
The main problem for Australia is the batting.. When you introduce a 35 year old for his debut in the last test vs west-indies... show the lack of depth..If England bowlers keep bowling well.. There is opportunities for collapses there..
Aussies have had a good 7-11 batsmen in the past, often scoring 100+ in quick succession, this batch between 7-11 just looks weaker.
England have only lost 1 Ashes test at home after gaining a first innings lead of 100+ runs - at Old Trafford in 1961.... The writing is on the wall for the Aussies.
Real shame Harris was ruled out injured. These guys have no control.
Haddin is a poor keeper (the actual wicketkeeping bit, not batting)
So odd that Starc seems so much worse with the red ball
poor shot there from cook
