Workers carrying out road works on the M6 have just been called to Edgbaston to roll out some Tarmac

What a day on the whole for England.

Only Voges' luck and a silly shot from Bell meaning Australia are still in the contest.

Interesting stat - Australia have been dismissed on 136 or less while batting 1st on 25 occasions.... They've
Won 6, lost 18

Last time won was vs at SCG in Jan 2010. Let's just say Pakistan had a certain AKMAL in that game ... Don't see England following suit.

Veryg good day, let's hope we can get a substantiall lead and bat them out of the game

Hopefully England can make 350+ then that will put them in a really strong position.

Still fancy Australia to win this game. They will be batting before tea tomorrow, knock off the 150 run deficit by the second hour on Thursday - and set England around 300 to win in four sessions.

We don't do scoreboard pressure, so will lose by over 150 runs as they scratch about like nervous rabbits.

Smith will get a double ton and Johnson eight wickets.

I have screenshot this work of genius

Nice to see England fighting hard for hashes. Like the time we fought for poppy in China.

If England lose this game they have played pretty poorly..the scores are level. England have 17 wickets to get 400 runs in 2 innings.. if they cant do that. Its pretty poor showing..

2-1 England....

Time to start thinking of the 4th test now for both teams. This one is a dead rubber

posted on 30/7/15

anyone ho thinks this is over has never seen England more than twice.

England could get 400+ just as easily as lose the next 7 wickets for 80 runs.

when both teams have batted once is when you really get an idea, even then, who would bet against Aus getting 400 in their next innings and England folding in quick time.

all to play for here.

1st things 1st, England need to bat as much of the day as possible.

So far the Ashes games have actually been very boring.
1st Test all england
2nd Test Aussies
3rd England

Least the test series vs NZ each test was even.

It is going to be a sunny day(I've been told), so it's a crime if England don't post over 400 in the first innings.

Morning fellas on a bright sunny day, ideal for batting. If England are still batting by the tea interval we will have made massive strides to winning the test. I'm expecting a fierce Australia fightback, however.

Why are the not starting early today?

25 overs lost yesterday to rain delays. Shoulda been a 10:30 start..

agreed....anyhow...big big morning coming up.

*We need to get out for decent total by tonight or tomorrow morning

Blarmy let's actually get a lead before we start to think about declaration shall we? Lest we forget this is England batting and we all know how well that went at Lord's

More seriously though, I think if we can get to 350 on this pitch that will be enough to set up the win. I know it's a low number but that's a really good bowling strip and I can't see any team getting past it under current conditions.

yes but we don't declare.. we will bat aslong as possible. theres way to much time in this game. we could bat for 5 sessions if we wanted..but that wont happen. I would be happy if we are batting at tea..

posted on 30/7/15

theres 4 days and 1 session still remaining in this game. if you add on the overs that will be made up..
No need to declare at all in the first innings..
