A couple more pieces and the jigsaw will be in good shape. still need to sign a defender. Of all the signings there's only Pearce that I'm not impressed with. Let's hope he proves me wrong but I can't see him getting in the team ahead of keogh, bucking and a fit albentosa
Gonna be some heavy breathing tomorrow.
And yes god luck Simmo.
Griff I've been told the three main players who Derby County are after will be Derby County players. Mel Morris is going for it this season, he's already said to some well known gentleman who I know that they will definitely be Rams players.......... Igor let's just hope we don't see any players overweight this coming season
Presume signings won't be made until July 1 i.e. new FFP regime ?
So who is the surprise player?
Go on then ... Ashley Cole
Are we sure it's a player?

Very Spart-like !
He'll be fine. He's coming to a Newto(w)n but he's supposed to be the best bar none.
Excited and looking forward to the 'New Beginning'. It is hopefully a new era for us all.
Before universal euphoria sets in however, reflect on the fact that many famous managers have tried to succeed in the Championship with a PL Squad... And failed. You could say Derby, in a position of almost certain automatic promotion, where virtually relegated over the last 10 games by losing their top spot and finishing 8th.
I truly hope for the positive outcome of the New Beginning. But I'm nervous.
Trends look good. 2013/14 we lost the promotion battle in Jan, Feb and March, 2014/15 in March April and May. So extrapolating this season our bad results will be in May, June and July, we got this.
That's the spirit Clement will be hoping for from us fans. Up and at 'em, eh?
I try to get excited about the 'new beginning' but realism keeps smacking me back down.
Last season we had the best squad, an exciting style of play full of goals, the highest attendance, the best coaches/Manager, the best training facilities, no problems in the camp (so we thought) and we where top of the league with 12 games to go.
So a question to all you optimists.
Given the same conditions, would you take the position we were in last season with 12 to go or the position we are in now?
I would take same position with a better defence and Martin leading the attack.
Optimists hope for the best.
Pessimists expect the worst.
Whatever happens, happens.

Pessimists have less disappointment in their life (or should that be fewer vidal?)
Less disappointment is often directly attributable to fewer Vidals: coincidence? I think not.

“If the world were a paradise of luxury and ease, a land flowing with milk and honey, where every Jack obtained his Jill at once and without any difficulty, men would either die of boredom or hang themselves; or there would be wars, massacres, and murders; so that in the end mankind would inflict more suffering on itself than it has now to accept at the hands of Nature.”
― Arthur Schopenhauer, Studies in Pessimism
Optimists hope that doesn't happen, pessimists expect it to, 666 foresees a romp to the Championship title by mid-March: anyone who disagrees is a mentalist doom merchant so-called 'Derby fan' who should get down the road and get themselves a garibaldi shirt.

Thank you, Spart. As mankind has clearly reached the point described by that miserable git, Schopenhauer, it is up to the Rams to kick-start the reversal. Believe, and let joy be unconfined

Don't think we will be promoted this season. That is not pessimism it is just from looking at how other clubs, including ourselves performed following an injection of cash and new talent. Took 3 seasons for Lionel's team, took four for Leicester and as for Forest, they are looking at eternity following the intervention of their sugar daddy.
Two seasons ago, we had a fairly cohesive team and missed out on promotion through bad luck. Last season, because of team changes, through injuries and managerial whim, we crashed when the tape was within sight.
This season, we have to adapt to loads of changes, and it is unrealistic to expect the team to work together smoothly until they have had time.
The squad is looking good and should make their mark when they're a team. This season or another one, doesn't mean we can't be optimistic
Respectfully (in Cat's case anyway) I'll disagree.
I genuinely think we have retained sufficient of the nucleus of that good side to maintain our cohesiveness, improved the bits that weren't quite so good last term and have brought in experience which we missed whenever The Eust was absent. Add in the extra firepower we have secured and look like securing and we're practically certainties.
