Rosler saying yesterday, and also last week, that he is happy with what he has says to me we wont be seeing much coming in before the season starts.

Just sounds like every other season we have had recently. Where is the ambition?

And again, yes, I know there is still time.

"Why improve other players kids and get nothing out of it."

If they are quality and they contribute to promotion, then we do get something out of it. As opposed to the lesser quality players we'll probably sign on permanents. In essence it allows us to compete with the ambitious clubs, but in what can be a cheaper way.

The lack of activity suggests the OP isn't wide of the mark. Well that's taken care of my little flurry of optimism😞
Same old, same old!

If we all show enough patience i'm sure we'll be rewarded with a flurry of international class signings in the upcoming weeks.

they'll transform the team and provide width, pace and know-how into the team.

Sorry to bring gloom and doom lads.

By all accounts they are wanting to strengthen still but sounds like we need to get rid of a few before bringing in a few.

I start to wonder if spending our entire pot on Woods was the right decision. A big striker who isn't prolific...if he was signed to spear head the team then I reckon Morison can do that all day long. Hope I'm proved wrong, but can't see us raising any other funds from players unless we sell Byram.

By all accounts players who we're willing to sell are Sharp, Doukara, Wooton and Byram (for a hefty fee). Can't see us raising too much.

It's not for the lack of wanting to improve the team but looks like the players Rosler wants aren't available at the price we've got.

Targets and rumours have gone quiet. Ajose has impressed Rosler though, I know that much, in fact think Rosler has said this publicly too?

In response to Sir Kenneth, I appreciate what you're saying and to a point I agree with it. However, when was the last time we got a loan signing that was a significant improvement on what we've got?

I doubt there are many available loanees that we could get that would make us promotion contenders.

Has it stands, next season will be another waste.

Still time but can't help the feeling, we aint gunna get enough quality in

I thought we just landed a great kit deal with Kappa?

Where are those funds?

Did they all go on Woods?

Signing Woods without anyone to get balls in to the box is just a waste of money....there is not enough creativity in there at all.

And for what its worth I don't think there will be either, the signs are there that we wont be making any more significant signings. I think we are going to have to make do with what we have.

Woods without service isn't far off playing with ten men, all round game isn't great

posted on 13/7/15

Wood wasn't a huge fee up front anyway, will have been under 1m.

cellino might just need to bite his tongue and enter the loan market if it means we get wingers

Exactly LIW, if he is the only bit of serious business we do then it's a massive disappointment.

A few quotes from the above article:

“We’re trying to bring in the right players for the right place in the right position.

“But I’m still assessing the squad.

“We don’t want to bring someone in for the sake of it when it turns out that we have good players here.

This is what we have heard every pre-season for the past 4/5 years from various managers....it's not a positive article, it just screams "we're skint and we cant afford anyone else"

posted on 13/7/15

Gelderd ............ reluctantly I totally agree. It's like he's been told behind the scenes what you have is what you've got to work with.

Personally I thought Wood was the start of several key signings - maybe still is. Maybe, and this is wishful thinking, they're trying to lower expectation and play down that we're in the market and have funds to spend? Here's hoping eh ?!?!?

If Wood was the start of things and we saw a good stream of activity since then then I would be happy, but it's gone deadly silent and it makes the Wood signing seem pointless.

He will not do well without good service. I feel like its groundhog day, every day, every summer....why aren't we signing wingers? Every man and his dog knows we need 1 or 2.

The quotes from Rosler in that interview are one's we've heard time and time again, and we ultimately know the real meaning of them. It's clear they think we are stupid....I don't know anyone who is happy with the squad as it stands.

Another season of mid table obscurity with zero ambition beckons....if we need to sell to buy we have all been led down the garden path (again)

Surprise me Massimo....

If we have blown on our budget on Wood that's crazy agree with LIW without service he will be like a chocolate teapot may as well play me up front

posted on 13/7/15

Thing is you hear every manager say he's got a good squad, everything he needs ect, until things get tough when results are poor - then you'll hear different 'we need wingers' etc.

Rosler will be no different, he's not going to say the squad isn't good enough before they've even kicked a ball, but we'll see how well coached the team are and what postitions we really are still weak in when the season kicks off.

I can tell and others who watch Leeds on a regualr basis, we are weak at creating opportunites, last season was dire in that area and getting a player who needs service as your main signing, seems bizzare to me.

This sounds a lot like last year, instead off overloading with player's from abroad, we should have taken them 2/3 player's to take this league on, I agree with what he says about the player's already here being able to do their bit,(they fought their corner well with the dross they had last time out!)but with the player's still needed we'll have the same problems, any team in this or any league know that player's need supply!..

Seems something lost when it comes to Leeds United, when was the last time Leeds United really had wing men?..

Odd how he says the last time we had anything it had to be a carthorse scoring eh?..

Wait I'm confused.

Are you saying that sheff united are not willing to pay half a million for sharp.

But leeds62 said they were going to do that.

Now I'm all confused, it's almost like he does not have a clue about player values, but that couldn't be the case...could it?

So drury is a winger who can play at right back and Byram is a rightback who can also play on the wing.

And we are looking to sign drury as a back up rightback so that our best rightback can play on the wing.

Wonderful.
