Think you need some pace in your team. Maybe a winger or 2 who can beat a man.

Evertons #25 from last season looks a good player, quick, can beat a man.

Njie looks like he's gonna be signing for us and if we can follow that up with Berahino that would be good.

We've been linked with a 4 million move for Meireles, would be a good signing in my opinion, we do lack top level experience in our midfield.

Some rumours we might go for Honda, which I would love as I've liked him since he was in the J-League plus Levy would love the exposure in Japan with the signing of him.

Agree. Sensible posts by a sensible poster.

For me, we need to press ahead and get ourselves another striker. We can't nor shouldn't wait around to see if Adebayor facks off somewhere or not, somehow I doubt he's got what's best for Tottenham in mind.

As for CM, whilst I can see the need for creativity in that area, I'd take a De Jong-type no-frills DM in there. Nothing fancy, just focused on the defensive duties and no real interest in going forward. Desperately lacking experience in the midfield area, the likes of Mason, Bentaleb and Dier don't have the talent to compensate for that IMO.

On the flanks, the only one with pace is Townsend, but he's garbage anyway. I'm not sold on Lamela actually being effective out there. Chadli gets his goals but is too slow for my liking. We can get away with Chadli on the one flank if there's pace on the other side. For what he's cost, I'd have liked to have seen us snap up Delofeu.

I don't hold too much hope that we'll sign the necessary quality as I fear we've let things fairly late.

Poch dont do wingers. We rely on Rose and Walker for width and if any of those are injured the we fecd. Yarmelenko looks like a bigger stroger Lamela type likes to cut inside, a Poch type player. Njie does have a bit of pace but not really the finished article. Im sure we will make a few signings top 5/6 best we can hope for.

Swansea is Ayew's level. So our level if we continue being unambitious

We should of took Ayew on a free, could of dumped both Lennon and Townsend

We need a speed merchant more than anything. Someone who gives us the opportunity to counterattack quick, or just receive an outlet ball to turn the opposition.

There were some positives to take out of yesterday, given the amount Utd have spent and the age of our team we weren't outplayed. Bentaleb needs to shape up quickly as the stupid pass is starting to become a trademark.

You're brave saying you'd have Lennon as a starter. Don will be foaming at the lips!

But yes, we do lack direct pace from wide areas, especially when we have a fullback with no attacking threat or pace - for Davies yesterday read Dier and Naughton last season.

It's not enough to have one player - Townsend. When he's injured you're left with nothing. Lennon is unfashionable to the trendy modern football fan though alas, they much prefer someone such as Lamela who offers nothing but a fancy name.

Lamela offers nothing yet made the most assists for us
Last year? Let's forget that small detail in pursuit of jerking off Lennon who had been exiled from the squad for no good reason whatsoever

Fack me, Charlie Adam made the most assists for Blackpool a few years back - sign him up!!

Clearly your offers nothing comment is nonsense isn't it .

Pace = problems solved according to HRH

Considering the context of the comment was pace - as the OP mentioned it as a problem - then Lamela offering nothing is spot on. He is incredibly one paced and holds things up.

I know you keep banging the assists drum.....did you know we averaged far less goals per game when Lamela started than when Townsend or Lennon did?

More assist for the individual, but the team scores less goals.

I am not banging any drum. You're the one that seems to have a fixation with Lamela not providing enough for the team

He is providing a hell of a lot more than Mr Exile

And if you want to dismiss Lamela's assists, please don't give me stats to support Lennon or Townsend

posted on 9/8/15

Ok then....

Last season.

Townsend 754 minutes
2 goals
2 assists

Lamela 2302 minutes
2 goals
7 assists

You don't need a calculator to work out who scores more goals

Assists not a lot in it per minute played 328 Lamale, 377 Townsend

Overall Townsend involved in many more goals per minute - one every 200mins, compared to 250mins for Lamela

I only bring stats to those who use stats to back an argument - such as yourself.

I prefer to go by what I see. And what I see when Lamela plays is us being boring and predictable
