Doyle doesn't have 100 goals yet tam unless you count Ireland.

Like i said, great player, crap striker , 3 in 25 at league one level gives you a clue of how far he had fallen.

Wasn't around on the thread yesterday, had to go to a football match, so here's the result of the Team Selection Competition:

Very close run thing this week in what was probably the most difficult league match to pick for so far. How come everyone picked Stearman who didn't even make the bench?

And the winner, by just one point is:

Tatter with 32 points

Cyp 31
Wulfrunnut 31
Gem 30
Cinci 30
Tam 30
DJ 30
AJ 29
WITTS 26

and Bute (whose hat did you pick out of?) 23

I'll do another comp for the next match, because by then 9 of yesterday's starting 11 will have been sold, and we will have bought in 9 more midfielders to replace them

You are an embarrassment Cinci. Constantly criticising players and managers that did well for the club you supposedly support, but defend to the hilt players and managers that were compete failures

Why don't you join a beer forum to discuss your passions rather than come on a football forum? Just to confirm there were only 16 people at the game yesterday interested in the football. The rest were just there for a rest after going to the pub. You would have enjoyed it

We are clearly not in the know wulfrun. I think if we tried now to pick the team for the next game in a fortnight the scores would probably be more pathetic. We would probably have to pick players nowhere near Wolves right now

I haven't got a problem with Cinci, but I do sometimes raise my eyebrows at some of his views.
Like DJ says, how he can defend Clarke's, Siggy's Solbakken's, Doumbia's etc... contribution to Wolves while dismissing Doyle, Edwards, Ward, McCarthy etc... is beyond me.

Ah right. So we are going to discount league goals then. Didn't realise, sorry. Let me change it slightly.

If we go by just league goals in England, Doyle has scored 87 goals in 330 games, most of which playing in the Championship and Premier League. You say he is a crap striker.

Clarke has scored 92 goals in 323 games. A pretty similar record although most of his games and goals have come at a much lower level. You repeatedly shout down anyone who calls Clarke a crap striker.

This is without going into what else they contribute to the team, which for Clarke is nothing whilst Doyle is a great team player who can hold the ball up.

Cinci logic

Your turn to get slated by the nit-picking squad today cinci.

Don't you just love it when the same two (DJ and Tamwolf) distort what posters actually write to suit their own agenda.

Mr Mollyknew (as Cyp once called you). You are a disgrace on here, wanting someone to leave just because you have a huge issue with his opinions. Every day you find something to moan about. Maybe you should do what you're suggesting he does. This forum would get along much better without your constant nit-picking.

Love the bit where DJ states that those that go for beers before a match are "the idiotic minority".

Doyle was a good striker a long time ago.

He scored 19 goals in his last 4 years in English football.

Clarke got that in 6 months.

I rate Doyle as a player, but no doubt he lost his edge as a goalscorer, why can we not be honest about that?

Just pointing out the inconsistencies in your arguments. Nothing distorted as the Florida gremlin has said.

I don't have problem with Cinci. Whilst I disagree with him on this, we'll probably be on the Stearman thread.

I think Getin Doyle has had the more successful career out of him and Lemon Clarke. People could find fault in both if they wanted, but overall I'd say Doyle made the bigger contribution at the club.

No doubt about that bute.

But also no doubt he has struggled to score goals in recent years, and that is why he has ended up in the USA at an early age, nobody in the UK would pay the wage he would like for the amount of goals he scores.

Whereas Bury were only too keen to take Leon

Bute. What have I distorted? DJ freely admits to having a few beers before the game. Have one of your infamous 's

What an idiot.

We don't go for a drink before games but I know a lot that do and 1 family of lovely young ladies in particular.

So what is wrong with it?

posted on 31/8/15

DJ has never said that those that go for beers before a game are the "idiotic minority". He said that those who ONLY go to the game for the beer were the "idiotic minority", (in response to a comment Cinci made suggesting that most fans went only for the day out and the beer, and not so much for the match itself.

That's a big difference - and it was clearly lost on Wolfie, (unless he deliberately distorted it).

posted on 31/8/15

It's unlike Wolfie to distort something that someone else said to try and make himself sound better.

He obviously has never had any friends to go and have a social beer with.

I think integrity and honesty is the very least you'd expect from certain sections of society.

Tell you what, if alcohol were suddenly banned football stadiums would be a lot emptier on match days.

posted on 31/8/15

I thought that alcohol was banned in a lot of football grounds other than in hospitality boxes!

I went to a Champions League game here in Cyprus a few years ago and tried to get a beer before the game. None on sale so had to do with a coffee. The feckin game was sponsored by Heineken!

Wolves didn't serve alcohol to away fans for a number of games last season. It didn't affect the attendance of the away fans.

Banned completely, inside or out.

It's a big part of the day.

Can drink in the stands here interestingly, rare to see any trouble.
