Arsenal and Man U embarrassed the transfer

Only halfwits see the transfer window as some kind of competition. JA606 is full of them.

See how the season pans out before putting your transfer business into perspective.

Well to be fair we didn't want Pedro so it wasn't an inability

Madrid are the ones who fooked up by their own admissions in relation to de gea.
I don't think we had as good a window as we could have done however it was miiiiiiiles better than arsenals and certainly not an embarrassment in my view

it's embarrassing. Blame sky and their sully yellow tie coverage

Did they, though? They've got to do another season with Navas, a very good goalkeeper in his own right, and saving themselves 30 odd million and will sign De Gea up on a free in March - or for an absolute bargain price in January

It was a pretty embarrassing window for Chelsea too tbf. Their manager acted like a spoilt child, constantly complaining that he hadn't spent as much as the rest, then desperately started trying to throw money all round him, whilst still missing out on his main targets

You do have to question what our ambitions actually are. Right now it seems like top 4 and the club will be happy.

We're turning into Arsenal

Love it when Utd fans say they were not in for Pedro.

He agreed terms!

With regards to Chelsea I don't understand loaning out Kalas and the like then buy back up defenders. Seems weird.

As long as the 'cup tied' option stays the same, I see no need for a window in the first place - as a result we wouldn't see the shambles that's just accrued over the past 7 weeks or so.

I was shocked to learn that Arsenal were the only club out of the top 5 European leagues, not to sign an outfield player.

True
However I don't see how that makes us an embarrassment

If he agreed terms then surely it was upto us whether we wanted him or not. Think about it

I think United have had a good window.

Kept De Gea.
Got rid of plenty of dead wood.
2 top midfield signings.
New RB.
New #7.
New striker.

Yep done that and he agreed terms with both clubs then chose Chelsea.

Man U are laughed at for their inability to sign Pedro and the De Gea shambles on Sunday let alone forking out £35 mil on a 19 year old whose only played a hatful of games.
-------------------------------

LVG obviously didn't want Pedro in the end, otherwise we'd have bid the release clause, which was reasonable. Also the De Gea debacle appears to have been Real's fault. With the statement that we have released about the FA backing our stance that all our paperwork was submitted in time, it looks certain that Real were the ones to mess the deal up. I mean, they had all window to do the deal, but didn't put a bid in until dinner time on the last day. Then tried to change the transfer fee a few minutes before the window closed. How can you blame United for that?

Martial I really have no idea about. Never seen him play. But we have paid £27m for Shaw, so £36m for a promising attacking player of the same age doesn't surprise me that much, as forwards always cost more. We will see how he works out, but he could turn out to be a great signing. To call the deal an embarrassment now when he hasn't kicked a call is odd. Overall United have had a very good window.

We were allegedly talking to him well before Chelsea came in. Surely if we really wanted him we would have wrapped it up. Even pedro said we were too slow. We obviously weren't sure about him. It's all speculation anyway

I'm annoyed that we didn't sign other players. But the reaction has been way over the top. Some of our fans are acting like we've just been relegated! Some people saying our squad will now struggle to get top 4! We still have a very good squad, we can't forget that. I think we can challenge for the title if we have luck with injuries especially if we keep our key players fit. It will be unlikely we would win it even with a fit squad, but we're good enough still to have a good run at it. Our squad is better than last year, we have cech, and coq from the start of the season. Yes I am very frustrated we didn't get another DM and striker, but some of the reaction has been crazy. It's as if the whole world has imploded. People on here acting a bit childish, throwing a tantrum because they didn't get the present bought for them.

It's not the end of the world, we have still kept a good squad together and added cech. Yes it's annoying we didn't add the 2 players we needed. But we haven't suddenly got much worse over the course of the transfer window. The window is over now, nothing we can do, throwing over the top tantrums isn't going to help anything.

They will be happy in the end, but they obviously wanted him this season. Otherwise why unsettle your current keeper by including him in a transfer deal that they didn't want to happen?

And there is no way that De Gea will be sold in January, unless he doesn't feature in the CL for us, which I don't see happening.

Arsenal spent best part of £100m last season.

I know the fans want a DM and a striker but I can understand Wenger not buying if he doesn't think that player will be an improvement.

However, the AST said yesterday that is fine but if so lower the ticket prices. Seems fair to me tbh.

And yet we didn't meet his very reasonable release clause. Strange that eh?

Yeah. Trying to get him on the cheap until Chelsea gazumped.

I think truly deep down most here know that. It's just this board is well known for its reactionary meltdowns. This place will calm down.... Until the next point is dropped of course. Then the meltdowns restart
