Took penalties against Nigel Martyn many years ago during a local youth tournament where he was special guest.
----------------------------
Corrected!!!!
I have also played in a 7 aside team a fair few times ran by the Brownlee brothers so had a kick about with them before the game.
They manage a team in a 7 aside league at their old uni. Everyone else in the team is a distance runner who trains with them... I basically stand still tackle people, hit a long raking pass (that can be as over hit as i like) and they will get to it. Confidence boost once a week
Beach football against Miguel Veloso who was not the best on the field....those Portuguese kids can play and I guess beach football is pretty much a different game. I also took a penalty as a kid with Gary Mabbutt in goal. He was at my school doing some diabetes awareness. He was kind enough to let me score
Crazy how people are saying how good all these players were when they played against them - Welbeck, Duff, Konchesky etc.
Fast forward to the football on Saturday and they're all sheite again
Simon Armstrong (Port Vale) and John Oster (Everton, Doncaster and Grimsby).
All played with a England youth player who played for Mansfield called Scott Gibbons for a few years but injuries killed him. Not literally.
Scary to think how talented players like Messi and Ronaldo are when you look at how players like Duff, Chris Eagles can dance around people like us trying to snap them and can't get near them

There really is a world of difference fitness wise from professionals and mere mortals.
A guy I played against was playing in the MLS. He wasn't a household name, but during the off season over there, he moved back home and was playing in his friends team to keep his fitness up. Ability wise he wasn't anything better than I've played against, but fitness wise he was. Just so sharp and agile. I'm no slouch but his acceleration was just off the scale.
Accidentally hit Schmeichel's dog with a football while I was kicking it around with my brother at Alderley Edge 10-15 years ago. He took it surprisingly well, from what I've since read about his temper.
My mate played with de Bruyne when he was at school. He also once gave me lift to that Victorias secret model who's going out with miley cyrus... stella something.
Dad played with Chris Hughton Really decent man apparently.
Brother played with Jermain Defoe, he was in the year above, was always told you could always see he was special since then
I've played with no one famous
Played against Niall Quinn a long time ago as a school boy. He played centre midfield and was really bad. Couldn't believe it when he turned pro with Arsenal a few years later.
Not played with anyone famous but I use to work with Geizka Mendiata's wife, met him a few times too.

What was she like?
Zinzan Brooke. His company against ours about 12 years ago. Big lump but useless really,we were worse and it ended up more rugby score with his side winning 13-3.
He got an og under pressure from me.
Played in the same team as Emmanuel Frimpong before he moved to Arsenal. Same with Nile Ranger who was at the same club.
We would often play against academies and usually win actually. Beating Arsenal and West Ham etc. a few times in 4 quarter games. Wilshere was an opponemt once and probably other footballers who play lower league now.
Also Jonjo Shelvey at a tournament when he was living and playing in London and Dean Parrett who had a future at Spurs but threw it away.
Id say Wilsheres probably the best from what I remember. Frimpong was just a beast compared to most of the other young kids, always thought he was a year or two older.
