Would you take Rodgers if Tim got the sack?

Sherwood said earlier in the season to judge him as this his now his team.
Now the reports suggest some players have been signed by others in the club.
What is correct?
As for Rodgers, not entirely sure. He still has a lot to prove, but according to reports he was first choice before Lambert, so there could be truth in him coming to Villa.
The rumours are a bit strange. One possibility is that they come from Sherwood or someone in his camp, preparing an excuse for the problems. But that doesn't tie in with his recent public comments where he has said that "these are my players, this is my team" and that he takes full responsibility.
I think that Paddy Reilly has done a lot of work, but overall it seems a group effort, which is probably right. I think we bought the right players, given our circumstances, and that it takes nearly all players a number of matches, possibly a lot of matches, to settle. The big question is managing that settling in period. Gestede and Ayew looked hopeless to start with, but Gestede now looks a real threat and scores goals, and Ayew looks much more dangerous (when he's given the chance). Neither had a pre-season. Tim has to persevere with these players; drop the ones taking time to settle in and we haven't much left. The problems with the Stoke match were that the team selection was strange, didn't get going in the first half, and didn't improve enough in the second.
What is worrying and needs sorting is that my missus has noticed that I dont get agitated when we lose now.
She says I have almost given up.
Not true but some truth in it
That was the reason Rodgers was sacked from Liverpool; a silent Kop...
Mind you, people have been saying that Villa Park is quite often silent, fans prepared for the worst...
We're so used to being on the brink, I do wonder if that we were just an average middle of the table team we might get a bit bored!
Rodgers would finish you off. He has NEVER built a decent team anywhere, but has traded his name on the back of what previous managers have achieved.
Villa are going down - we all know that - but to go down with that vain chancer (on ten times the wages of Sherwood) and with £40m worth of dross on lengthy contracts (January signings) would be the end.
The end, I tells ya.
According to the Birmingham Mail or whatever Clark is likely to be the only absentee for Aston Villa this weekend. And Sherwood wants to attack.
So will he line up like this...
Guzan
Richards Okore Lescott
Hutton Amavi
Gil Verteout Grealish
Sinclair Gestede
Plenty of attacking in that line up. And plenty of cover in defence too....

I genuinely think you could do a lot worse than Pearson at your place.
Unfortunately I think Sherwood is out of his depth and is not getting the best out of what is a reasonably talented set of players. Nigel Pearson would do this for you.
For too many seasons now you have *just* managed to stay up - if things don't change soon I fear this could be your unlucky year.
We're certainly not getting the best out of a reasonable group of players. BUT, it would be a miracle if we did, bearing in mind that most of the incomers have no PL experience, no experience of this country/culture, and that some were signed at the end of the window, had no pre-season, and were living out of a suitcase for 2-3 weeks.
Which is why I'm not too worried at the actual results at this stage, and take heart from the fact that nobody has turned us over, and that we've seen some encouraging signs of the talent that's in there.
However, this still leaves the question of whether Sherwood can actually get the squad firing. I don't know. I think he's honest in his interviews, seems to believe in the squad, but makes comments that make you wonder. We have to hope that Fox & Co have a better idea.
If things are going pear-shaped, we'll be thrashed by Chelsea. If it's a much closer game, I think the jury will still be out, whichever way it goes.
Pearson? He has the courage of his convictions and Leicester's current state is due to him. But I'm not sure we could handle the baggage which comes with him.
To be honest i will be amazed if we get anything at Chelsea, surprised even if we dont get beat by at least 2 or 3 goals. The Swansea game is the one, if we are beaten again, then we will be in serious trouble. That would be 4 points from 30 which is embarrassing and in my opinion not acceptable for any club whatever league your in. There is only so many times you can blame new players settling in but on paper Villa are better than our points tally suggests so Sherwood is ultimately to blame. We really someone who can galvanise the team but i haven't the foggiest who that could be and furthermore who would fancy the challenge. It seems the Villa job is just a poisoned chalice these days !!!
The Premier League throws up some funny results but we could get whooped at Chelsea.
Swansea is the must win and the way they play is not ideal in a must win game
I think the performance at Chelsea is important, the result against Swansea is vital.
This I believe will dictate Sherwoods short term future.
How apt that after those next two games, if no points are picked up, the Vile will be 'all at sea'...
