Certainly looking like a good investment isn't it. Certainly up there with Eriksen and probably better in terms of consistency. Also, it has worked wonders for Verty so all good.

Most of those players you have listed were bought over a decade ago when prices were much lower than they are today.

If were talking about bargains how about the money we paid for Carrick and Berbatov and the money you then paid to buy them off us.

Also a certain Gareth Bale springs to mind, was it something like £70m + profit?? Now that was a bargain......

I was thinking of Carrick, best £18.6m spent. He became so good due to Wallsend Boys Club. People thought SAF lost it when he was our only signing in 2006 after getting rid of RVN.

Cant believe how solid we looked across the back on Saturday bar a couple of corners where pool seem to have the upper hand. It wasn't just the defense but the work done in shielding it. And a mention to Verts as well, some of his anticipation in breaking up attacks were quite impressive. Seems Toby brought out the best in him.

Toby has been very good and a steal for that price. I didn't realize it was so low, relatively speaking. Dier has been outstanding in the holding role which has also helped our defence immensely. Long may it continue

Chronic and a few others called him "over rated" and we're saying he ain't that great so yes a few people were doubting his ability

You put any decent defender with sh*** players like kaboul/chirichis and you will see a completely different player. Verts attitude was questionable but he was always an excellent defender. Toby Alderweireld has come in and bought the best out of him and we are now seeing the same Verts as when he started with us

Shows how good a job Poch has done to have identified this problem so well. Amazing turnaround to go from one of the worst defences in the league to one of the best (so far). Look how Brodge still couldn't improve Pool's defence after 3 years.
