Well, admit you're wrong here when you said that DDG was 'comfortably' better than Carrick that season.

That's his opinion though,it's like some United fans saying Moyes was hard done by at United due to the squad he inherited.

Would those of that opinion say they were wrong?

One is an opinion that can never be proved either way (for example had Moyes inherited better players maybe he would have done better).

The other is something quite easy to see based on the fact we saw both Carrick and DDG play that season. VC, pedantic soul he is, said DDG was 'comfortably' better than Carrick that season.

It's just not true. Nothing whatsoever out there backs that claim up.

He had some very good games. So yes he did have some say in it.

I never said he was poor all the time.

My favorite bit was when he quickly said he had some work to do and stopped while he (wasn't) ahead.

Everybody who played more than half a dozen times had some say in it. But,probably, RVP had the biggest say. No disguising though that a few players were pretty average or getting old. That's why they've been shipped out or retired.

Not really, your original comment was to me with regard to there being a collective problem in midfield rather than an individual one, which is why you said Carrick wasn't particularly good.
