We've been here before. Every time we sack a manager the fans come up with a list of potential replacements; Rodgers, Moyes, Martinez, Laudrup, Klopp, you name it, are or have been in the past linked with this club. It always turns out these have never been on the clubs radar; it's usually some young spark just venturing out on a management career, cheap and grateful for the Villa opportunity (in spite of the obvious problems).
This time it will be no different, although I'd be happy to be proved wrong. Which usually means change but no change. One of the reasons I was keen to give Sherwood as long as possible, i.e. unless it really was hopeless. We have to start building, properly, sometime, otherwise the decline is inevitable and bottom half of the Championship looms.
However, if we are going down this route, then Garde is certainly a brighter prospect than most if not all the alternatives. Good reputation from his time at Lyon, talked of as a possible Wenger successor. Above all, he fits the sort of player we've been buying and would be a continuation of that approach. Dealing with the likes of Gana, Veretout, Amavi and Ayew would be second nature to him. Could also guess that Grealish, Sinclair and Gil would fit in.
My choice would be Laudrup, for much the same reasons. But Garde as an alternative to Laudrup or Moyes is a decent shout.
However, the problems won't go away. He'd have a huge task in a league he's no experience of. Don't expect us to move away from the bottom few any time soon. He has to be given time. But that applies to whoever we appoint.
Me, somewhat sad Sherwood has gone (Grealish tweated gutted, and I think the squad will feel the same); he's not rubbish and I think he'll manage again. The one person I don't want anywhere near Villa is Pearson.
Remi Garde

Should have got rid a week earlier and got Allardyce in. Missed opportunity.
I suppose you could make an approach to WBA for Pulis...

Exactly what I have been saying all along.........but I think that Buffoon Lerner may have self-destructed with his idiotic decisions over the years.
