I would have liked to have gone to this game but flying out to lanza/Fuertaventura for 17 days.
So its COME ON ROVERS
I think you ought to have a look at the highlights NY. What struck me most was how good Posh were; even if we had played at our best I'm not sure we could have contained them. You cannot change behaviours quickly and those instilled in the Dickov era will still influence what the players do on the pitch, so I don't entirely blame them for not adapting yet and as we are coming to believe, it is more difficult to change the way older players adjust than the younger ones.
It would be good to see Stuckmann return to his outstanding form because he played a huge part in safeguarding the defence in most of the early games and that must be one of the reasons why we are conceding more now.
I'm optimistic for the long term, but we will hope not to be mauled too severely in the nearer future.
I took your advice Donaldo and watched the highlights this morning. I am even more depressed now, as they could have had nine or ten in the 11 minutes.
We were absolute rubbish and I hope we cannot be that bad again tonight. I saw DF's pre match interview and he dpoes talk well about what needs to happen. I just hope the players listen to him, but I fear we have too many who are too old and younger ones who are not good enough.
As for Stuckmann, hopefully he stays fit as I watched Marosi in the Crewe development highlights and he looks far worse.
Ah well. onwards and upwards as they say.
People really have to move on, Dickov has been gone for quite a few games now and the defeat on Saturday has nothing to do with him.
We got as badly beaten at Port Vale earlier in the season as we did on Saturday, and i guess it will happen again at some time in the future, probably even next season when we have a totally different team.
With regards to the FA Cup draw, it would be good if we get to play North Ferriby.
They are a great little club and i remember playing against them quite a few times back in the day.
Defenders of DickFuq need to move on too, and stop defending him...
I am sorry Hound, but if you were to get Player and listen to Ferguson's interviews, there is a definite , if tasteful feeling that all the clubs ills lie at the feet of Dickov.
Unlike us he cannot mention the name, but when he says ewe have too many midfielders, too many strikers and too few defenders, he is only referring to one man being responsible.
Until things start to pick up we will continue to lay the blame at Dickov's door. I have said many times that he comes over as someone I would like to meet and sit and have a drink with, that does not mean I accept everything he did and the way he did them was right.
I keep reading that DF wants to play all out attacking football, we will score one more than you.
Surely he will be happy that we have lots of attacking players?
Also, dont all new managers (in business as well as football) blame the previous managers for all the problems they have inherited.
Much the same as politicians do.
I am not biting Hound !!!!
No much sign of our top striker curtis
Tonights team.
Stuckmann
Lund, Butler, McCullough and Taylor-Sinclair
Coppinger, Wellens, Middleton and Evina
Stewart and Tyson.
Subs
Marosi, Williams, Forrester, N'Guesson, Gobern and
Keegan and Whitehouse.
Officials
Ref Charles Breakspear
Assts Matthew Buonissisi and Ian Fissenden
4th Off Nigel Lugg.
Not a very attacking side but I suppose we have to stop them first before we look to snatc h a goal on the break.
Very good news df is better than i thought no chaplow not even on bench
See if we can hold em off till at least 20mins. Hopefully no stupid passes from Butler or Coops tonight.
Yankee, i am not looking for a bite, i am just making a couple of points of view.
Also, your last paragraph indicates that we are likely to play in a Dickov kind of way, as donaldo has suggested elsewhere.
Surely that isn't what we want to see from a DF team is it?
Xon, i just noted your earlier comment.
I am not defending Dickov by the way but you have to admit that we are worse now since he left.
More goals conceded per game and more defeats per ratio of games played.
Just thought you were Hound, so I didn't want to jump. Nice to know. I can't see any fast attacking from the starting line up, hopefully I am wrong!!
It has to be better to play this way in away matches.
Here we go again, Wellens this time 1-0 to Millwall.
Now 2-0 after 7 minutes, another set piece. We need to have a total clearout, but that's not possible.
I take it everyone has switched off, I am referring to the posters, we KNOW the team have switched off.
Nearly 3-0, hits Stuckmann and goes for a corner. A slip by McCullough.
Just on the road NY. 2-0 - dear, oh dear. If Copps scores now though, I'll start to believe my prediction!
They have had enough chances to be 7 up.
Half time 2-0 to Millwall.
