Lamela has scored 15 goals in the EPL since he signed for us?

No. He has 15 goals and assists combined

4 goals and 11 assists
Edited it but really didn't think saying 15 goals and assists would be so confusing Obviously I didn't mean 15 goals and 15 assists...
I guess that completely throws back in the face of the likes of chicken and HRH who have been preaching for ages now that Townsend is more productive than Lamela maybe they plucked that from their a** but proof in the pudding is here and that is Lamela far more contributes to the team than Townsend. Bye bye chickster
These stats are meaningless, what about tracking back yards?
Anyone know how I can unfilter Chicken?
Maybe that's not a good idea this proves he's wrong but he will still find a way of arguing against it
I want him to try to argue against it though, should be fun

Chicken basically claims that Townsend isn't given enough playing time (stats show otherwise), and that he contributes more to the team than Lamela (stats show otherwise) and no doubt he will stick by his guns, he is afterall the most stubborn person on our lovely board

Go to your profile page, the list of people you have filtered is at the bottom, think you can only unfilter if you've had them filtered more than 4 weeks or something like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Luka. chicken is the most stubborn guy in ja606 history. Just watch the cr** he comes out with in his defence when stats completely prove him wrong
Townsend getting enough playing time in the last few years compared to lamela - Check
Lamela contributes more than townsend in a even comparison - check
Chicken proved wrong - Double check

I've defended Lamela a lot on here, he didn't really have a first season due to injury. Last season was his first proper season with us. He was bang average at best for most of it, but there was an upturn in his form during the final third. Pre season I was adamant we shouldn't give up & sell him, as I felt there may be more to come and I wasn't that happy with the alternatives (Townsend being one).
He started this season off slowly, but then so did most of the team and I put that down to the farcical pre season we had. He's kicked on and although he does still look scruffy in his play at times and have the odd stinker he also does work very hard for the team and contributes quite handsomely with goals & assists, and the stats back that up. My hope is that he continues to improve and becomes a key player for us, time will tell.
I wanted Townsend to be a success but he just seems to be lacking something. People mention his productivity last season but I'm not sure how much those stats are skewed by penalties. He can look good as an impact sub as he is quick & direct, but it's been a while since I've seen him impress from a starting position. The times I've seen him play this season he's looked bloody woeful. With Lamela, Chadli, Son & Njie around he's well down the pecking order, probably best for his career to move on now. He's definitely better than championship level, would probably do well at a Stoke or West Ham.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm pretty certain he wouldn't start for West Ham, and would struggle to start for Stoke too. I see him the same way as the trio we sent to Hull, will go to a prem club but could easily fall down to the championship with a team. There are better players in the championship than Townsend
AT is one of those lads we all want to be a success I think it is fair to say. Home grown, pleasant lad that if you cut in half would have Tottenham running through the middle. Sadly, almost every game I've seen him compete in I have winced at how predictable he has become for the opposition. He has had moments of inspiration but they are usually reserved for when he pulls on an England shirt so we know he can play at a reasonable level but like Solly et al, it isn't apparently for us. Lamela has some flaws but seems to be slowly improving and if push came to shove, i.e. AT was getting an itchy butt on the bench, I would rather let him go than the other bloke.

Erik Lamela: 2 Goals and 7 Assists - 255 mins per goal/assist

Your chosen sample is one season. My chosen sample is over a longer time period, which, although you'll probably argue otherwise, is a fairer assessment
Why specify one season?
Why specify one season?
=================
Because my assessment was based on who was the most productive last season.
Do you agree Townsend was our 3rd best player better last season based on this? If not, then you have flawed your own opinion.
Stats are just an overview of single contributions - they do not tell you Lamela cost us goals against City and Arsenal - they do not tell you Townsend was at fault for something else - stats can prove what you want if you try hard enough.
I bet if you did a stats table on value per transfer fee, Lamela would be bottom - this is how the stats game works.

No, I don't think Townsend was our third best player last season because I don't judge footballers purely off goals and assists
All I wanted to do was dismiss the nonsense going around that Townsend is more productive, when in fact that was only one season, rather than throughout their time at Spurs
Well the stats say that Townsend is better than Eriksen, so lets drop the useless Dane for our heroic English hero.
Analog, to be fair it's only chicken and surprise surprise HRH who have stated Townsend is more productive. The vast majority of spurs fans would have Lamela over Townsend any day of the week
Not this debate again ffs
Here are the simple facts. Lamela is a better footballer than townsend
That doesn't mean townsend is a bad player because he isn't. He has attributes that are important in any squad. - pace and confidence
However he hasn't developed at all and is basically the same player he was 3 years ago and making the same mistakes.
I don't rate him but he would be a good player for any of the bottom half sides.
Lamela is on an upward trajectory of development whereas townsend has stayed the same
I think we would be silly not to sell Townsend if we had an offer approaching 15m but if he stays then I'm fine with that as he can be useful in cups or as an impact sub
Chicken will always favour the english player over the foreign one so his opinion should be discounted. The attack by don on hrh is out of line as all hrh does is say that Townsend is treated too harshly by our fans - which I actually agree with.
