I wonder if Butterfield had stayed if this would be the case, I like Powell and reckon he'll be a good manager. Him and Rowett I see at the Derby one day.
Problem with Powell is that he seems too nice to really get a struggling team firing, he's a good manager of a team that's flying high.
I wonder if Charlton are regretting letting him go now though.
Can't be easy for a manager having an owner making decisions behind his back, having to slash the budget and coping with a squad-full of want-away players. You really have to feel for Dopey Doog.
To be fair, Udders are so garbage they're barely even above Forest in the league.

Interesting choice looming for Nigey C: Huddersfield or Forest? Which offers the best chance of staying in League 1 next season?
Vidal, I don't think Nigel is daft enough to want (or take) the Forest job.
Looking at where Sheff. Utd. are in the table now (compared to where they finished when Clough was sacked), it looks like their board have as much idea as the rest of the FL too?
Football owners are as bad as the government, they don't seem to get the idea that in a league, there is always some at the top and some in the mire. What they really want is a table where everyone is at the top.
I notice on the Forest boards they are now referring to Nigel Clough as 'Cloughie'
Make of that what you will
Feel we have perhaps contributed to his downfall by turning Butterfields head, but I guess that is football.
You can't help wishing Chris Powel well, deserves better than he has been treated in his last two jobs, sets his teams up to try to play decent football
