The only bit that wasn't cut & pasted
Have to be tough with this sort of thing, they should be made to play for forest
A little Birdie rang me up and said notts forest were a great price on Friday so a couple of our players decided to have a bit
In the spirit of 'cut & pasting' (and, I suppose, also in the "that'll learn them camp" ), what about...
Top players accuse advisers of mis-selling; ‘They feel aggrieved, they feel duped — humiliated’
Ex- Everton FC (and Nottingham Forest!) striker Kevin Campbell and former Liverpool FC midfielder Danny Murphy are among several leading footballers embroiled in an investment crisis that could leave some facing ruin and others up to £7m out of pocket.
Some of the biggest names in football have been caught out after investing in film schemes and property ventures before being hit with tax demands from the government.
The footballers were advised to invest in particular projects by financial advisors David McKee and Kevin McMenamin of Kingsbridge Asset Management, whose website states they have a “simple mission”.
They claim they aim “to provide effective, up-to-date and cost-effective financial strategies to [their] valued clients.”
Kevin Campbell, who invested in five film schemes, now faces losses of up to £7m after being hit with tax demands from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), according to leaked documents allegedly seen by The Sunday Times.
The former Everton striker is now in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings in the wake of his loss.
He said: “When I see the paperwork, it’s horrendous. I am not one to be bitter, but £7m is a lot of money.”
Ironic that people in a privileged position to be paid so much, have potentially lost everything because of their desire to avoid paying the tax that would otherwise become due.
Feel sorry for them?

Forest were 2/1
Derby were evens.
Either you are a total sucker, gbo or you are too stupid to understand what a 'great price' is.
I'd go for a bit from column A and a bit from column B
As one of the 99% who gets tanked for every last penny due in taxes and even having to pay extra to have my compostable materials taken away after I have separated them out, I'm struggling to find much sympathy for the one-time millionaires who have been caught out.
Footballers making films very rarely turns out well, a fact to which Ched Evans would surely attest.
Not too much sympathy to be honest sph, I know these names probably ended their careers without the super riches of today's players, but they were still pretty wealthy measured against the general public. They could have invested in a myriad of safer options, but chose the tax loophole/get rich quick scheme. I know footballers on the whole are probably not the brightest, and they were badly advised, but they should still have had their eyes open.
... and even having to pay extra to have my compostable materials taken away after I have separated them out...

Not on mains drainage there yet, 666?
There was a secret footballer article in relation to the player who'd fleeced a load a fellow players in a pyramid scheme - apparently dressing rooms are hot beds of iffy investment advice / latest get rich quick / tax avoidance schemes.
I assume Mr Campbell was involved in one of the artificial loss creating film partnership type setups. Hmrc have won cases recently and claimed the tax that was deemed to have been dodged. Take That lost out too, which I imagine had something to do with their unexpected extra tour!
Feel free to try and legally avoid your taxes, but don't be surprised when a. Hmrc go after it and b. Don't cry when it unravels and you have to cough up.
No sympathy.
