It's not really clear what would be expected to see council funding to be honest.
But as with Man City and West Ham I am against clubs getting taxpayer handouts
This is where City stand apart as the new owners then went on to redevelop the local area so put back into the local area
It would be great if they got some help. We take the mick but I really love to see Everton flying and doing well so long as we are always one step ahead. Can't believe they haven't found a buyer yet.

Seems Joe forgot about what had been discussed. Rumours are that the council are involved in the discussions at the moment with a potential takeover, however they are pushing this project at WHP and the potential new owners are more interested in redevelopment of Goodison. Both need council help so will sit and wait.
How much truth is in the rumour??
Didn't Liverpool get a handout when they planned to move to Stanley Park?
Let's keep Liverpool out of this and what happened in the past.
Mr Mayor seems to forget what he said about redevelopment and investment from last year. Maybe the council want to move towards more private funding?
Just by the quaint ye olde English village of Norris Green.
I've noted that the RS are starting to take quite an interest in us again after the last few games
If Goodison can be redeveloped would that be a problem? Obviously the best interests of the club should come first, whether that's a redevelopment or a new ground.

Would make a huge difference to the clubs images
Any benefit to the local area is a good thing, so what if some money goes towards Everton building anew ground that can only be a good thing for the city in general.

no, they didnt...they agreed a lease on land, but thats not what elstone is talking about here is it?
Pretty clear cut in what needs to be done:
A) everton say how much the stadium part of the "development" will cost and fund that
B) everton say how much the wider regeneration plans will cost (infrastructure etc) and ask the council to fund
Im guessing Elstone wants to council to put their hands in their pocket for (A) aswell, but without directly saying it.
Guessing, yes that's it.
Mr Mayor can't remember what he talked about last year and reports are that the council favour a move to WHP against a Goodison redevelopment. Why would they expect private money to fund a local regeneration project?

but of course this is "not an everton project"...its all about regenerating an area.
If this is such a good money spinner for the council, why dont everton go it alone and pocket all that profit its going to generate...wouldnt that be the smart business move???
Op you should contact Liverpool city council with your objections as to how and where your council tax is spent.... Oh wait you can't can't you....

Mr Mayor was looking at funding/spending last year.
As I said, I guess that the council want the club as part of the project and would be easier than around Goodison.
What's the development, schools and leisure facilities? Nobody knows. But the rumour is the council favour WHP over the Goodison area?

European grant,so we're not the only club who goes cap in hand.
Elstone said redevelopment of goodison wasn't viable. Wether or not that is true they seem to have discarded it as an option.
Walton hall park needs £300m we don't have £300m and that is where the problem lies. We can't and shouldn't expect handouts and realistically speaking we can't expect an investor to swoop in and stump up the cash either.
Basically the only chance we have of getting that amount of money is firstly getting into the champions league and then selling our best assets (stones, Lukaku Barkley etc). And then not reinvesting that cash into the team but into WHP and then hope we don't get relegated at no premier league money would cripple us.
Do you not believe the rumour that potential owners want the councils help to aid redevelopment of GP?
I got this from a reliable source....as good as it can be for a rumour.

you mean for the regeneration of the area around the stadium? a grant that was never received as we didnt build the stadium.
As i said, if everton only want the council to fund the bits around the stadium then great, but it appears thats not what elstone is getting at
Seems that people are jumping the gun before anything is even presented to Mr Mayor
