"All sides miss chances, only a few weeks ago we were bottom of the chances created table,"

But that's considering a 30 yard shot a chance but not a slip from Herrera from 8 yards out with a half open goal, because a shot isn't actually taken. Stats eh?

"as well as having made the least forward passes and most backwards passes."

On the other foot we've had the most possession in the league, so that's expected. Stats eh?

Wow Busby and Dunc actually agree with something I said. Normally everything I say gets dismissed. Glad to have people who also see the bigger picture. Maybe it was just not meant to be in CL and our level is EL.

They really aren't, they're no different to the many chances other sides miss against us. But more and more people seem to look at the chances with Hafi goggles on and see all ours as clear chances but ignore all the ones opponents had.

The best chances we had were stopped from good saves, something de Gea has done for us countless times.

Last night was a huge turning point for LVG and amist all the negativity I am alot more positive than I thought I would be and it has nowt to do with the prozac.

Hafi how many blocked shots have you had in the CL this season?

yeah yesterday i agree, but there have been a few times this season where we havent even made the keeper work from a close distance, and Lindgard is probably the biggest culprit for this.

If a keeper makes a save fine, at least he has earned his money, but far too often we arent even doing that, and thats the really frustrating part.

Dunc

But I would say in those games we created little and so those chances were highlighted more than usual.

Wasn't it the Fulham game under Moyes were we created over 30 'chances' yet it was rightly condemned. Why is it different under LVG?

There are multiple reasons why we aren't scoring enough, the 2 biggest for me being the style we play which is LVG's fault and believing that Rooney could lead our line and get us 20+ goals, again LVG's fault. I accept there are also other lesser factors not to do with LVG but he is IMO the main issue.

Anyway this reminds me of 11/12 CL campaign, opposition were ruthless against us and we were wasteful. We then got battered in EL games navigating one tie and getting battered the next statistically against Bilbao. I actually think the quality in europa league is better then the teams we faced in the CL.

Again though, that is just your perception. Ourselves, Swansea, Southampton, Liverpool and Chelsea all have more shots from within the penalty area than you do. Even with the other teams, there isn't a discrepancy.

It's a perception that isn't backed up, either through watching other teams games or even your own and the chances you give up to the opposition that aren't converted.

..........................................

No that wasn't it at all.

The Fulham game was where we put like 30 odd crosses into the box against a pair of huge centre backs that they easily headed away and got rightly condemned for it, LVG hasn't been so stupid.

I think they were playing some 6"4 CB who'd been in the lower leagues a few years earlier and maybe Huth, two of the last people you'd chuck cross after cross in against.

Do people honestly forget this stuff or do they just pretend to have a go at LVG?!

------------------------------------

Going into a season short of strikers
Taking Mata off for Powell
Leaving Carrick on the bench last night instead of starting
Leaving Young on the bench all night
Not going for it against PSV at home.

Nope, not stupid at all

So we didn't have over 30 shots?

The point is both that game and the past 2 games for us has shown that all these chances mean little when there is little emphasis on the actual quality of the offensive game you want to play. Yet the Fulham game was rightly condemned yet people make excuses for games under LVG.

As melton keeps saying, some United fans are not looking at things equally and that clouds their judgement on exactly how we are performing.

Melton is the only unbiased person here but the one I am agreeing with the most.

Some of us prefer 4th to 7th...

Admittedly some of us actually support United though so maybe that is where the confusion comes in.

You're trying to make it too black and white. Yes 4th is better than 7th but the excuses as to why we aren't scoring are nonsense and ignore the fact all sides go through similar issues.

......................................

The last two games have nothing to do with the Fulham game and where nothing like them...

Moyes was condemned because the team put cross after cross in against a pair of huge centre backs.

LVG hasn't done that so I really see no relation.

Not taking you chances is nothing like what happened in the Fulham game, if you think that it what the criticism was about then you have forgotten that game (and the aftermath) completely.

We normally have more shots then the opposition under LVG. Its extremely rare for the opposition to shoot more then us.

Well in that game we had plenty of shots on goal and their keeper made loads of saves. We missed shots when in on goal too.

Just the same as our last two games in the sense that people could have used the 'if we scored them'.

It's all about narrative. IF we'd converted say, 6 or 7 against Fulham the narrative would be that crossing was a great way to beat Fulham.

IF.

Some of us like to see United do well and finish above United.

Suspicious how the manager who loses badly to Liverpool and finishes below them is hugely supported by you but one who regularly beats them and has us finishing above them (to date) is hated by you.

posted on 9/12/15

I wonder who's the bigger United fan.

The one that sees LVG is doing a bad job.

Or the one who sees LVG is doing a bad job and still wants him to continue doing damage.

You seem weirdly obsessed with Liverpool. Are you sure you're not a Liverpool fan?

Maybe you're a Swansea fan. We keep losing to them.

I think since LVG took charge around 15% of the matches the opposition had more shots then us.
