My ratings are skewed. I know they are. The reason is I rate programmes/films simply on how much I enjoy watching them. Nothing else. I guess it's more of an emotional response.

I know some people are put off by production values and the music, that impacts me far less. Don't get me wrong, a great score can elevate what you're watching but it detracts less for me.

The reason my ratings are skewed is because I love Star Wars so my enjoyment will naturally be higher. Is this objectively a 9/10 episode. Hell no. Not to non-fans. But it is to me because I really enjoyed it.

I also think a series can gain good or bad momentum. If the momentum is good and people generally enjoy the programmes then faults are overlooked, bad momentum and faults are picked at. Bit like a relationship that's going wrong - you suddenly start noticing all the things that annoy you about her

see thats part of the problem though Naby..... focus groups go and look at how things were recieved... they dont really look at the casuals cos they pay their money once and thats all they need from them. they look to fans and say if the core group are happy then thats what matters as these are the guys we really make the money off.

And if fans like yourself are rating episodes like that as almost perfect (thats what a 9/10 is) then why would they bother changing or rolling the sleeves up and busting a gut. no the money men will say good job, we can get 9/10 without the effort, expertise and money then we will keep it going.

they are going through the motions of put the effort in to start with (mando) then ride of that success as long as possible whilst investing as little money as possible.

I'm just a bloke chatting on a site to other fans. I'm telling you how much I do or don't enjoy it and you're doing likewise.

Put me in a focus group and that's a different scenario. The job is to critique, to influence the direction of travel and the finished product. My responses would be different because there would be scope for improvement.

I don't have that opportunity now, I'm just telling you how much or little I enjoyed the finished product.

true Naby .... but your voice and opinion is one that is echoed
. Especially when it comes to SW whos fan base are stupidly loyal and lap it all up regardless of what they are served. they wont hire specific focus groups for opinions they hire them to gauge the opinions of the fans. and when they do so they will come across ratings giving OB1 an overall 7/10 some episodes are nearly perfect (in they eyes of guys like yourself) and they will go back and say well the casual non returning funders think it was stupid but the fanatics (the spenders) love it some of them think some of the episodes are nearly perfect.

Director goes ..... well why pump more money into it ... lets keep this going and continue to pump out massive profits will little investment.

The sooner these guys are told this is NOT GOOD ENOUGH, the better. And it come from people like us, we are the ones that deserve better more than the causals. we are the ones really being ripped off here not the casuals.

they need to know that we wont accept average dross like this from possibly the greatest ever franchise on screen.

agree I thought it was a little better than average. like you said some really stupid parts again as per, seem decent nostaligic parts. And continues to smear the continuity and chain of events that have already been explained in the lore

Happy to give this somewhere around a 7-8. One storyline makes more sense now, for once nothing problematic to make another storyline worse. Lots of pandering to old fans but mostly well done. Music and production still problematic. Few more video game influences in this one too.

there is a possibility to make another huge storyline wrong .... like one of the biggest story highlights over the whole franchise !!

We dont know if its been messed up yet however, we will know that next episode.

I really dont see this episode the same way some of the others are ... 8 & 9's .... really ???!!???

I think the writers did a much better job of making things make sense in this episode (minus perhaps the last minute), but the way things were shot made aspects of the story harder to believe.

hard to say just now.... with that last minute they could literally be ready to $hit on possibly the biggest moment in on screen history.

I don't think they're almost perfect, not at all. But I am enjoying them.

Tbh, I'll watch pretty much every series they turn out. It's a bit like supporting a football team, you don't quit on them just because they've become depressingly average! But that's because I'm a fan. I'm not the differential between success and failure, I'm the consistent. The foundation that supports SW.

People who have never been SW fans watched Mando. My wife, who (at best) tolerates my love of SW, really enjoyed Mando. The ratings on sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic reflect that. The awards Mando was nominated for reflect that.

Even with their foundation of fans, who are as you say very loyal, OB1 has an audience score of 59% on RT. I'm not all over these scores but a report seemed to indicate that both the reviewer and audience scores have fallen as the series has progressed. Compare that to score in the 90%'s for Mando.

Disney wont be seeing OB1 as a success on the basis of reviews. The more pertinent question is, are they prepared to do anything about it? Because they know there's an enthused audience for the likes of Mando and they know there's a more critical audience for the likes of OB1. Which do they want to achieve, easy cash-cow money or great TV. With the best will in the world, my enjoyment of episode 5 and rating on ja606 has zero influence.

Again I don't understand the criticism. Enjoyed the episode and it unfolded well. No major issues came up other than the continuation of Leia knowing OB1. The ending? Not sure yet but nothing too worrying.

I think the ending can easily be nothing to worry about, people just have their backs up from the last four episodes so expect the worst

Oh no, there’s a lot to worry about.
It’s not so much about, the last shot, cos we gotta see how that plays out.
I’m lost now, cos I ain’t gotta damn clue how this show ends, besides Leia going back to Alderaan.

The problem was already there in the early Eps, and now this potentially creates a massive plot hole.
In fact, I think that horse has bolted, and it is a problem that doesn’t make sense.

Be interested to hear what. There was nothing new that really alarmed me, the ending could end up being very stupid but it could end up making sense.

Hmmm, Well I’ll put it like this…

My mouth hit the floor!! I’m like, someone cancel his EE contract immediately!. He’s lost his damn fool mind.
What are you saying?! Shut up already!!

Now we know nothing is gonna come of it....
but at the moment, this is just bad writing, that you can’t just shrug your shoulders at.

Again, trying to think how this plays out. I don’t have a clue. But I’m trying to use logic, and this is most probably interfering with something that’s staring me right in the face.
