I wasn’t saying you Naby8, it was directed at Disney/Lucasfilm and their PR team and sections of the media.
Speaking for myself, up until recently, I was all in with KK being the CEO. Thought Lucas made a genius move. But her body of work since then has been a massive letdown.
Sorry, but Chows work on Kenobi was mostly terrible.
She may be a talented director, like Robert Rodriguez.
But as of now, I don’t want either touching anything Star Wars again.
I’ve been a massive supporter of Bryce Dallas Howard.
And I think a lot of people are too.
The Leia thing, was more about cannon, and how they were forcing a storyline that breaks cannon.
It still doesn’t make sense.
And Reva, while an interesting character, is just badly written, and anyone man, woman playing such. Pivotal character within the Skywalker story would’ve been a jar to the system I think.
Reva, is now roaming the galaxy with info, that only a few know. Why? Where they going with this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I said, each opinion is isolation is completely reasonable. Collectively though, it's uncomfortable imo. I think some people (not pointing any fingers to anyone here) do want the boys club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure there are a few fans that just don't want females in lead roles but I think it's such a miniscule percentage that it doesn't even matter.
If you make good stories with characters that have depth and have been well written, fans will get behind them.
Filoni created an animated female jedi padawan who is widely regarded amongst the fan base as being one of the best characters in SW. Lucas done the same with Princess Leia.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Id argue that the amount that are against female roles is far far far lower now than it would have been in the 70's and 80's
Agreed but I think Hollywood recognised this and created male leads to capitalise on the audience demographic.

If your churning out generic average stuff yes your 100% spot on.
personally I have Ellen Ripley down as the numero uno main leads in any action or Sci Fi film.
Perfect arc, perfect character, perfect performance. thats my benchmark for a 10/10 character and performance in a Sci fi/action flick
Yes I meant on average.
Ripley and Sarah Connor being the most prominent.
In recent times, I'd put Charlize Theron in there, for her role in Mad Max. Trinity from the Matrix too.

Mad max another film I wasnt mad on, I liked it, agree Theron and Hoult stole the show. I preferred the originals.
I should have loved Fury Road it had all the elements I needed but didnt hit the mark the way the originals did.
Ripley is my numero uno lead role in any action / sci fi.
Over and above any other male or female lead role.
2nd could very well be John McClain or Sarah Connor .... that needs more thought however
That's a bold statement if you're including action movies.
Other contenders:
Bruce Willis- Die Hard
Arnold - Terminator
Harrison Ford-Indiana Jones
Mel Gibson -Lethal Weapon
Stallone -Rambo first blood

yup off that last Id agree with
Stallone, Willis and Gibson.
thats not to knock on any of arnies stuff or Ford but I just prefer a lead role to have that vulnerability about them which arnie cant pull off obv or didnt in any of his roles that we would consider. I never really got that with Ford either
Yo! What?! Ford was the original vulnerable action star.
Indiana Jones. Han Solo. Richard Kimble. Rick Deckard.
Tbf I think in general the writing has been pretty bad for this new generation of Star Wars, but they're also pushing the female leads, so it comes across as if we're moaning about women in SW when it's more coincidental.
I liked Rey well enough after TFA, but after that her story just didn't make much sense to me. It wasn't anything I could relate to or get invested in just cos it was a nonsense story. The same thing happened with Finn and Poe, but because they get sidelined and Rey is pushed front and centre then naturally she comes under a lot more scrutiny.
In Jedi Fallen Order, Trilla plays almost the same role as Reva does in Kenobi but she's a much more interesting character to get invested in.
Man, seeing Rey. The start of TFA.. those little silent moments introducing her. Chilling by the At-At.
Walking the sand dunes.
Who is this person… with he classic music, the way it was shot. Great stuff. But then… things just go sideways. And I feel for all 3 of them as they should’ve been the new characters everybody loved.
I remember that interview with most of them, on the last film, and you could feel the hatred.
Boyega just flat out saying nah, he’s done with Star Wars, not interested in a Disney+ show.
And their awkward reactions to being asked what their reaction was to the end. And they couldn’t really hide their disdain.
I know I’m in denial, but I can’t believe we’ll never see an Episode 10, 11, 12. Never to see the famous crawl again.
I mean, look how stupid Kath Kennedy thinks we are..
she said no, to a Crawl text, at the start of Rogue One.
This was also followed up with cheap soundtrack.
She thought we would get confused.
Ya wha?!! Just make the text a different colour. Simple.
It doesn’t say Episode. Where’s the confusion gonna be?

If the rumours that KK refused the first storyline of BOBF because it was too dark, then I think she takes the blame for everything..
In that context I see those bright shining Vespas as an act of willful rebellion on the part of the writer
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, badly written characters.
We’re all for expanding the world, the lore. Give us characters to really be invested in.
Reva’s story is a really interesting story right. Her journey. Sure, wouldn’t mind seeing that being told.
How it got to be part of the main story of Kenobi just threw people. They make say an Inquisitor show, and I’m sure people will be up for it.
It shouldn’t have been a major storyline. And again, it doesn’t make sense.
How can Obi-Wan say, she’s turned good now, when she’s killed how many? He walked past the Tomb of a younglin ffs!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Those weren't all her kills though, it was the Inquisitors base, there could have been any number of people responsible for the dead.
That whole storyline was stupid. The whole series had a largely stupid storyline tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
slightly off tangent but I would fricking love a spin off from the empires side. A different POV altogether an almost empathetic POV of the empire. Have them quite clearly the baddies still but relateable still showing their motives for fighting
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cool idea, even better would be it falling apart following the death of the empire.
Especially with the fall out regarding Luke.. walks in to a room that contained Vader and the emperor and is the only one that walks out alive, carrying the dying body of the empires most feared agent.
You could conceivably paint him as the villain of the piece. All those lives lost on the first Death Star too..

And don't forget that Sheev was democratically elected, handed powers by the Galactic senate, very few people see him use the force.. they are either dead, work for him or live in a remote swamp eating frogs.
He's given emergency powers and used it to end the war with the trade federation and bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy.
He would control the whole narrative in terms of media too, it's hardly far flung considering the last few years of real life.. 🤣

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did.
But only because I heard it being mentioned on a star wars review video
And originally Luke turned to the dark side in ROTJ, picking up Vader’s helmet and saying ‘now, I am vader’
Ah fart sake. Just saw someone say, that in the original script, Reva didn’t know Anakin was Vader.
It was Obi-Wan thar told her, and that’s when she flipped and went after Vader.
Now one could say he was lying, but then she could’ve checked the archives and would’ve seen the moment he became Vader.
That makes much more sense. Sounds a lot better than what we got.
Hearing all this is just annoying - as it could have been so much more. We could have had a far more interesting story arc.....and you didn't even need Leia.
Like just imagine episode 1: The inquisitors turn up on Tatooine, and get led to OB1 by that "Jedi", now OB doesn't know this is nothing but coincidence, but is worried the Empire have found Luke - remember at the start of episode 4 sith/Jedi were literally myth so quite a high chance OB1 knows nothing about Vader. So OB1 needs to find out what the GI knows, at the end getting spotted, ending Episode 1 with a scene of a holo speaking to Vader " We have found him my lord"
Now what we see in this version of Kenobi is not a broken man like we have seen in the last few series/movies from Disney but the exact opposite - someone who doesn't want to disappoint Luke and right the mistake he made with Anakin, so this OB1 is just as strong as the last time we saw him just 10 years wiser.
Now Episode 6 basically becomes episode 2 - fisrt of all it sets the whole feel of the series, we have this epic battle which OB1 eventually wins and he also dramatically finds out that Anakin did survive. And this is why he loses part 1 of the fight. We then get the excellent broken mask dialogue etc. End episode 2. So OB1 is now p1$$ing himself DV knows he is on Tatooine, so attempts to lead them away - in comes Darths most loyal tracker; Reva. However, in this version Vader doesn't magically know who she is, and we notice from the start something is off - Reva seems like a hard ass, but doesn't always seem to kill (if you watch the whole season again you will notice that Reva never kills), and in fact she's been running red flag missions, just enough to get her promoted, while also being able to disrupt the GIs from the inside....etc etc etc
Yeh anyone could have written a half decent script with what they had

And don't forget that Sheev was democratically elected, handed powers by the Galactic senate, very few people see him use the force.. they are either dead, work for him or live in a remote swamp eating frogs.
He's given emergency powers and used it to end the war with the trade federation and bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy.
He would control the whole narrative in terms of media too, it's hardly far flung considering the last few years of real life.. 🤣

I was thinking more Darth Trump 🤣
Anyone else know that Vader is Dutch for father? Never picked up on that before.. I feel dumb
