Yeh I think it would have been better if Palpatines plan is more obvious for the audience, I feel it's too hidden or just suggested rather than "look here is his plan and the stupid Jedi are falling for it"

Because when you look at Palpatines story it is pretty good

Maul was a great character (killed too early)

Or was he?????

Good point!

He had a double-bladed lightsaber that was the coolest thing ever when I was young and automatically makes him a great character

I really want a Solo sequel
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I didn't mind Solo at all. Wasn't great but it was decent enough. The criticism it faced was as much a backlash from (the appalling) Last Jedi as it was the film itself.

But ultimately it lost money so it would take a massive leap of faith to back a sequel.

I’d rather we just kept them as standalone films tbh.

Rouge one is one of my fav films. Solo was alright.

Happy to keep it as Disney+ plus series for a few years now though

I didn't mind the prequels

I liked RotS but it did feel a bit rushed in terms of Anakin's shift to the dark side. That's all the more disappointing when you consider all the wasted time in TPM and AotC.

I can undestand why the wanted to show the discovery of Anakin but it didn't need to last an entire film. And AotC was just horrible. Only scene I liked was when Anakin went to recuse him mother and killed the tuskans - admittedly his mother dying was cringe but that righteous anger and his failure to control it - that's what we should have seen more of in Ep 1 and 2.

The prequels did the dark side leaders well though imo. The rise of Palpatine was good, Maul was a great character (killed too early), Dooku was a good character and I liked Gen Grevious as well.

Ideally, in my head anyway, they could have covered Ep1 and 2 in one film - find Anakin & take him to be trained, Maul tracks him. Cut to teenager Anakin; impetuous and quick to anger, he and OB1 find the clones. Perhaps Maul thinks the time is right to take Anakin under his wing (maybe to help otherthrow Sideous), takes him and sells the dark side. OB1 and QGJ rescue him, QGJ dies doing so.
Film 2 - Clone wars in full effect, Anakin grows in strength but examples of the anger. Attachment to Padme grows but lure of dark side does too.
Film 3 - Basically Ep3; Anakin's righteous anger about the Jedi's failure to end the war and take power grows, turns to dark side

Yep, more or less how i saw it too. him as a kid could've been a montage like say, til teens.
End of 2nd film, his turns, and the 3rd tilm, we see the first couple years of the Empires reign.

The prequels have aged well for me. I think I tend to ignore some of the cheesy dialogue and dodgy effects and get pulled into the story.

They’re even better having watched episodes 7 and 8.

The Mandalorian: Episode 1

A few pop ups to contend with but once they’re gone, it’s a perfect picture.

Episode 4 was a good one! A bit cheesy, but still solid!

Even my 10 year old has been enjoying it, it seems so well balanced!

Episode 5: 6/10

Another decent episode but nothing that really got me as excited as some of the earlier ones. Loved the tattooine references and speeder bike scenes but overall, it felt like the previous episode, where he goes to a planet and has to once again protect baby yoda, although little to no character development in this one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole series is about him protecting the child. You’re gonna get that theme a lot.

I quite like the 'adventure of the week' format, but it does feel like they aren't really working towards anything in particular which is kinda odd.

Plus some of the adventures are just way more compelling than others, I thought last weeks episode was really really good. Looking past all the easter eggs, this ones wasn't really that gripping.

I was just talkling to a fella in work about this. the series is very much separate 25 minute adventures, with little of a larger story arc.

At first i was a little apprehensive that the series would be ending on a cliffhanger each week, but it seems to have gone the completely the opposite way and every episode is tied up nicely, with just a little of the overall story moving along.

It's kinda like the various shorter story arcs in Clone wars that contributed to the overall bigger picture. But as we are just a few episodes into what will hopefully become several series, then maybe that bigger story will come over time.

I hope so With BY there's so much scope of what could happen and how it could tie in to the larger universe, so I hope they have solid ideas about making it part of the bigger picture.

That said, I do enjoy the episodes as they are now, just wonder if it'd diminish if there wasn't that direction.

Watched episode 4 and 5 last night, still really enjoying the series.
