I still really enjoyed TLJ myself.
The problem the trilogy has suffered is chopping and changing directors and their vision. Either leave it to JJ the whole way through or leave it to Rian Johnson the whole way through.
It’s the lack of cohesion that is the issue moreso than the individual films for me, although i haven’t see the last one yet. But it doesn’t sound promising to me

Episode 9 just epitomises the lack of story and plot for this whole trilogy. It's an amalgamation of individual movies that end up producing a Frankenstein creation. I can't really blame the directors either because Disney and Kathleen Kennedy stood there and let it all happen.

Kennedy needs to stand down or be removed as head of Lucasfilm. This utter mess of a trilogy happened under her watch and her direction.
How difficult would it have been to give us a well planned out, entertaining and politics-free trilogy with some interesting and believable characters ? Surely not that difficult when you consider all the money and resources at hand.
Instead we've been served up something that is so inferior to Episodes 4-6 in standard and quality. In fact well below the prequels as well, certainly Episodes 2&3.

It had far too much to clean up from TLJ. It tried, it kinda failed.
Rey, Finn, Poe, ten and that lit could’ve been decent SW characters had they just made a stand alone trilogy rather than making them finalize the Skywalker saga. ROTJ done that job. These three just make a mess of it all

It was like watching my old copy of empire taped off the tv at Christmas back in the 80s. Also, it was Spanish. I think there were subtitles at the bottom but they set the camera in such a way that it cut the bottom inch of the movie off

I still believe Disney is the right place for Star Wars. They’ll get it right. Lessons have to be learned.
So, the morning after the night before. I am so disappointed. Maybe not sio much with the folm itself, but the trilogy as a whole. After what went before it, I just don;t think TROS would have been able to make a movie that satisfies me. The franchise was already broken.
So yes, some good scenes, some nice battles, a load of fan service being paid, but all to no avail. too much water under the bridge that this tried so hard to correct, but ended up just being a bit of a mess as a result.

i'm in a weird place, how a film i could easily rewatch gets a lower rating than TLJ.
i give TROS a 6 - 6.5...
I know, I am actually going to see it tomorrow night. I'll enjoy the set pieces and the pandering to me as a fan, but its all hollow. Its such whimper for the 9 movie saga to go out on.
At least I'll have some mates to b!tch and moan about if over a beer or two afterwards, so theres always that.
