Spoil away lads. I'm not paying to watching this piece of sheite and could care less if it's "spoiled". I know the entire story now anyway and the more I hear about this film the worse and more embarrassing it sounds.

So the trailer has dropped, and..... oh ok youve all seen it. Bit of a mixed reaction.
As trailers go, it felt like a big teaser, dont think it gave much away. Strange choice for a final trailer, nobody has an idea of the plot still?!?!
yes i will be there. Its a religion man. Its Star Wars.
Yes, this trilogy is a mixed bag. But got to see it out...

Just suppose it turns out to be an epic in its own right.
You’d be kicking yerself if you didn’t see it.
I don’t believe JJ has epic in him, so we will see.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you look around the interwebs, theres plenty of detailed plot breakdowns.

This has been updated over time and there are several posts listed in the left hand scrollable window. The 5th post down titled "The Basic Plot of The Rise of Skywalker, Updated and Expanded: Act I" is where to start and then move ontop Act 2 and 3.

I am sure you'll hate it

FWIW this guy pretty much nailed the plot

right, yeah...so ok... no objections
Lets dive in shall we?

SPOILERS SPOILERS

Major Gripes...
The Crawl. Terrible.. We thought Palpatine was dead, but isn't. cos....?? He just isn't dead ok.
The Dead Speak! ???
just like that, what?

Powers to heal now?

The ghostly return chat on Death Star 2.
I understand the moment, and it was nice but it should have been Luke. Han's dead.
Chewie dies, then doesn't
Ren dies, then doesn't
C-3P0 gets memory wiped, then gets it all back.
Rey dies then doesn't

Luke catches Lightsaber. Now this may be interpreted as a shot at TLJ, but overall this scene may actually work for Lukes story, complementing it instead, however much people don't like it.
But there are other instances of throwing TLJ under the AT-AT.

Poe gets shot, but i'm sure it's forgotten about.
Finn has something to tell Rey, but its forgotten about.

Palpatine doesn't realise he could've come back whole instead and its a surprise to him.

The Final Order fleet is impressive, but doesn't make a lick of sense..

But there were a lot of moments where i was having a good time. it's unreal. So frustrating that all the parts were there. you can see it. The Actors were great. its not their fault.
i can rewatch this, no problem, but screaming what could've been..

So that's my initial issues, i know i've forgotten stuff, because it was an assault on the senses.

The Good..

John Williams is for 9 for 9
C3PO
Finn,Poe,Rey, (The banter was great)
Ren,Lando,Leia,Baba Freck or whatever his name was. General Pryde.
beautiful action. the tug of war with Chewie was brilliant. The hectic 'GotG' ripoff beginning, but everything always looks better when it's the Falcon in action.
The nutty 'Endgame' ripoff, with Landos version of 'i'm on your 6', but when John Williams score kicks in, so do the feels.
and has some very heartfelt moments.
'I know...'
No no i wasn't crying, shut up, YOU'RE CRYING.

-----------------------------
Stringer from what I've heard very little of it makes sense and almost nothing is actually explained. Also that there are constant plot conveniences with things just conveniently happening when they need to and characters turning up at just the right time and place etc.

So basically Palpatine is still alive with absolutely no explanation given as to why. And that he's magically been able to build an entirely new fleet out of thin air also with no explanation as to how. Is that right ?

I like this new Disney style of script writing because anyone can do it. You don't need to actually explain anything or let logic get in the way. Just write whatever comes into your head no matter how absurd or unworkable and it's all fine just because.

Well lads, that’s it. The Skywalker saga is officially over.

And I think like most on here, it’s fair to say that the sequel trilogy has been a huge disappointment.

I actually think TROS was entertaining as a spectacle but from a story point of view, it was everywhere.

My big issue was how they dusted off some of the huge mysteries with nothing more than a casual line. Take Snoke for example..that was just a puppet ? Oh.. ok?

But here’s the biggest problem of the lot. When they announced this trilogy, they said that the primary goal was to understand ‘Who is Luke Skywalker’ ?

The irony of course is that I left the cinema yesterday not knowing the answer.

In reality, it was already answered in ROTJ.

They chose to complicate a character that had already made the heroes journey. The Jedi are good, actually the Jedi are bad, no wait, the Jedi are definitely good. Good grief !

I also didn’t like Palpatine in this film. It didn’t feel like him. It barely resembled him. He looked more like something out of Evil dead.

Lastly, they needn’t have bothered bringing back the Knights of Ren. They too suffered from Captain Phasma syndrome. A total waste of space and screen time.

There was a Tom Thumb film made in 1958 and there’s this scene at the beginning whereby a poor, elderly man and woman are given 3 wishes.

In his haste, the old man wishes for a giant sausage.

The woman, in her frustration, wishes for the sausage to be on the end of the mans nose.

They both then realise that he can’t walk about the town with a sausage on the end of his nose so they’re hands are tied. They use the last wish to remove the sausage.

This is the sequel trilogy.

Um, kinda yeah Superb. Unfortunately, That’s pretty much how it goes.
I mean Palps does explain it, sort of, but my inner ‘Axel Foley’ was going off in my head..
‘I survived cos the Sith flows through me’..
Me - ‘GTFOH
‘I have constructed a fleet of 10,000 ships...’
Me - ‘GTFOH’

So he needs Ren to bring Rey to him so she can kill him and then he can become apart of her soul.
Soooooo was that the plan in Jedi when he asked Luke to strike him down? Or has JJ retconned Lucas there..

The Knights of Ren...
I mean, why.... what’s the point.

Space Horses, so where they go, did they survive?
But the battle wasn’t in space..but how you gonna try make that work with lasers going off, I mean what advantage did they offer, and how did Finn know,...

I think Finn is Force Sensitive, and that’s what he wanted to tell Rey.

Man that just sounds diabolical

So Palpatine survives just because he wanted to and he fancied having a fleet of ships that would cost trillions to build so he just clicks his fingers and it happens.

Honestly Space Balls had more respect for Star Wars movie lore than this tripe.

I've seen the film once, so it might of gone over my head, cos JJ was throwing multiple kitchen sinks.
But he basically re-enacts ROTJ.... oh man, it just doesn't work for me, and i'd be the first to say, 'aha ha ,they have explained it, and it makes sense'

Like i think even though i didn't like Luke catching the Saber, once the scene plays out, it kinda makes sense for Luke.
I mean, i don't mind Palps coming back, but a little more care and thought would've helped.

Yeah I heard this as well. Can't say I'm surprised considering that Force Awakens is basically a shameless rip-off of A New Hope.

We spend 6 movies following Vader’s journey from child to Jedi to sith to redemption when he hurls the emperor down a shaft. Only he’s not dead. Screw you vader and your proxy 6 movie story arc.

Seriously. Force ghost Vader should’ve punched the emperor to in the d!ck.

Stringer, your writing style is so weird to read.

Fine, so this was the story of Rey and Ren.
Why the need to retcon a story arc that had been resolved.
We had a perfect ending with Jedi. And no matter what you say about the prequels, it added to the lore, didn’t hurt it.
(ok, little Anie can do one, but you know what I mean)
You had a blank canvas. Let go of the past you said.
You got away with it with TFA, fool me once, ok, but try to fool me twice, while kicking me in the nuts!?
Nah, you mad fam!
Oh man this is sooo annoying....
