I think in terms of star wars content, Boba Fett doesn't feature high on my excitement list, certainly no where near as high as it was for Mandalorian or even Obi Wan. However, I am looking forward to getting some Star Wars live action content again.

Obi wan is clearly the main event next year.

Well there’s a thing, that I don’t like with Disney’s strategy is, the number of Eps and fluctuating running times.
Do they give themselves enough time?

posted on 29/12/21

I thought the running times could have been longer for Mandalorian but I suspect it could be down to budget.

Obi Wan is supposed to be 1 hour episodes.

Oh no doubt. 100%.
But am intrigued where this goes. Hopefully they won’t drop the ball, like with Filler Eps and the like. Or One Ep being 48 mins then the next being 25 mins.
But this is a very good start I feel.

Book of Boba Fett episode 1 was decent. Nothing really blew me way but it was nice to be back on Tattooine and delving into the harsh and unforgiving environment that the outer rim planets are known for. I liked the flashbacks at the start and the whole Tusken Raider element. I'm curious to see where they take this story because it felt slow and I'm not sure Boba Fett carries the same intrigue or shine as he did in ROTJ and Empire. I thought the visuals were ok, although that creature at the end looked terrible. I'd like them to use a stunt double for Boba, because his action scenes seemed slow and laborious. I'll definitely be watching episode 2, as I am curious to see where this show goes, however, I suspect it won't quite liver up to the bar that the Mandalorian has set.

I liked Boba Fett and the mystery surrounding him, so seeing him without the helmet and being given so much screen time now is slightly discombobulating.

I'm hoping we get to see some of the other notable bounty hunters in this show. Clone Wars does a great jon building the underground crime scene.

Yeah just watched the episode a minute ago. Enjoyed it and good to see familiar surroundings and I also hope we see a few of the other bounty hunters, as a kid they excited me more than any character really.

Digging deep but Dengar, Bossk, Snaggletooth(did anyone ever own that bastad figure?) IG-88? and the other droidy looking fella I forget stood on the deck with Vadar in Empire?

Snaggletooth, no I get that one.
Am I will always remember Zodiac Toys in my hood. Had all the Star Wars toys and it wasn’t a big shop at all. Just 3 aisles, but dammit they had it all.
Then walk to the counter and behind them, are the Ships!!
Beautiful.
Didn’t have that many as I would’ve liked, but got me hands on my main favs.

Halcyon days, my entire childhood was Star Wars and then a bit of transformers later.

Had all the original figures except Snaggletooth, the little shatbag!! Still might purchase him one day just to say I had them all. Don't have the rest now though, foolishly let my brothers kids play with them and they destroyed them

Still drunk.. no, I didn’t get Snaggletooth
reminded me of Good The Bad, & the Ugly. But
Loved the Gomerian Guards.
Yeh, I think that cats out the bag now, about putting on the helmet. We’ve already seen him in action, so I won’t buy that he can suddenly be a Don fighter.

I never saw Boba as a hand to hand combat guy.
I always thought he was clever guy using his props in battle. And we saw the best moment when he used his gadget. Yeh, that’s the Boba I know.

Too short.
Other than that really liked it.

Oh man, snap. I admit while my folks were buying me Star Wars, Me and my primary school mates, were stealing Transformers.
To this day I cannot remember how I walked out with Optimus Prime.
But for 8 year olds we had a slick operation going..

Where are we in the timeline?
Force Awakens?

Not entirely sure but this show is post Mando season 2, so I am guessing 5-10 years after ROTJ?

posted on 30/12/21

Although I think the show will alternate present day to the flashbacks. The flashbacks are immediately after ROTJ.

Yeah I wonder how close after it will turn out to be. I guess we shall see how long it took to get on his feet. Looks like the Tuskens have some respect for him now so wonder where that goes.

So not up to date with the order of things so do we know who followed Jabba when he died? I forget how Mando ended, didn't Boba kill bib? Was Bib running the show? Shat, I can't even remember how it played out in RotJ?

Bib was in charge after Jabbas death and then Boba took over.

Both Mando and now Book of Boba have done well to give the tusken raiders a few more layers. I always thought of them as mindless savages but it's certainly been interesting to see how they work.

Also the whole Anakin killing the whole Tusken camp, takes on a new meaning now. He actually slaughtered the little kids too.

So, Crimson Red were based where? on Solo’s Home planet? Kept thinking Maul was in charge at some point, but maybe that wasn’t Tatooine…
I wonder, if we are seeing a change in him. Maybe he really isn’t cut out to be a Crimelord.

I think it’s a bit odd to see him try to get to that level, form deadly bounty Hunter .Maybe he ends up with the Sandpeople.

posted on 31/12/21

Yeh we have a lot taken from one of the Obi wan series of books that really fleshed out the sandpeople and I guess the Obi wan show will also expand on that.

I like that Fav has pretty much made the books cannon which they deserved after the disgrace of what Disney done with the EU, I hate seeing Disney cheer pick all the best stuff.

Agreed. The books are excellent. I have and will always believe that the sequels do not exist and instead, Timothy Zahns Heir of the empire books are what actually took place after ROTJ. Also, Mara jade over Rey.

If you mean Crimson Dawn, then yes, Maul was the head guy for a short period of the galactic empire but he always pulled the strings from the shadows.

I've thought more about the episode and I suppose it makes sense that Boba is now more patient and methodical in his dealings. In Empire, he was ruthless and Vader even warns him, "no disintegrations". Boba has been through a lot since then, mainly his ordeal in the sarlaac and I suspect his time with the Tuskens will be crucial.

Also, how cool was it to see a brief shot of Kamino during the flashbacks.

posted on 31/12/21

I tell ya something, how lucky are we, we get to see his flashbacks told in linear fashion.
Did find it funny we pick it up, right where he left off.

Kamino at the start, was very attention grabbing.
Then the Sarlaac. The myth finally seen on screen.
Very cool.

What I would’ve done though, just to extend it a little, was start it when he first falls in, but from the view inside the pit. And he’s clinging on, but we then suddenly hear off camera.. ‘Hey, I thought you were blind’
‘Trust me’
Then another few bad guys fly into the Sarlaac knocking Boba out and down, then it mixes to that point where he wakes up and gets out.

I do like that idea of hearing some of the dialogue from ROTJ, although I am not quite sure how long he had been in the pit. He could have been knocked out and woken up after a few hours or days.

How long do we think he was down there for?
I really don’t have a clue.
It can’t of been years… I’ll go for a few days at most.
