Happy xmas dlo....Yep agree we battered them for long periods but could have lost right at end.

We have improved but wins are needed and games disappearing.

Our home form will send us down sadly. I am surprised it didnt previously.

Merry Xmas to you to matey .. Yep totally agree, home form is a disaster. At least there is now real fight from the players now and that's all i ask for, regardless of whether we go down.

Good evening gents and seasons greetings to you.
Yes, another frustrating outcome when we desperately needed a win.
Pleasing that the team are fighting, two unbeaten now and now the next 2 games take on even greater significance that they did already.
If we dont get 3 pts in these games, then I will draw the curtains.
I would love to see villa get kevin nolan in, in January as he could help us in midfield and would be useful in the Championship.
Keep those chins up Villa fans!

There's a world of difference between probably being down and being down. We are not yet down. Today was a good performance, probably the best this season, and it fact marginally improves our position, given the other results. We need more than marginal improvements. But if we can start making this sort of team performance our norm, then however slim we have a chance.

Hope we have enough energy to bash Norwich. They aren't very good, even if they have a decent manager.

Remi's work on the training ground is having an effect, as is Duverne's work on their fitness.

See Newcastle lost in the final seconds due to a Cleverley header. Thanks Tom . Well, you did owe us one

Yes quite agree with Duvernes impact, certainly look fitter in the latter stages of games.
Norwich are not good, so hoping we can go there and come away with a win, no reason why not.
Still pleased with Garde despite the winless run, just wonder whether he needs to be a little more attacking when we are in the position to go on and win the game, like newcastle last week and today, in introducing Jack or Adama (appreciate he came on late on today).
I'm keeping the faith.....just!

Regards Grealish, i wouldn't put him in the first team. Garde you can tell is a strict manager with a a strict regime, and to be honest whether we stay up or go down it is just what the players needed. We are finally seeing a bit of fight for the shirt and that's what us fans want to see !!!

It's just possible that Sinclair was dropped with the idea of bringing him and Grealish back for the Norwich game. Sinclair combines well with Grealish and really needs some like that around. Grealish on form would add that extra bit of danger in the final third. Just a thought. Fresh legs against Norwich could be a good idea.

Not down yet. Need to win next 2 games. If we don't then will accept that we are down. Happy New Year to everyone.

I'm pretty sure Villa are down. But 6 points from the next two games could - just - turn things around.

Anything less than 6 points and Villa are down for sure.

Not only do you need the points now, but Norwich and Sunderland are both relegation rivals. Lose to one or both or even just draw.. and it is over.

Our line up yet again today is shocking, we are certain to go down with Garde's team selections. I was under the impression he got the best out of young players but Gil, Grealish and Traore and continuously ignored even when we just had a game two days ago.

To have any chance of scoring goals and staying up we should play with pace and guile, like below:

Traore..............Gil.................Grealish
.........................Ayew..........................

At least Gestede isn't playing and Richards is back but Richardson, Westwood, Bacuna - these are the reason we'll be relegated, simply not good enough. I doubt they'd make it in a lot of Championship teams.

At least Traore, Gil and Grealish are exciting and can make things happen, even if they're not consistent. Garde has really disappointed me in all honesty and not sure he really knows what on earth he is doing.

Playing 3 attacking midfielders would be fine if the game was only about attacking, but its not. Defending is just as important and none of the 3 you have picked like to defend.

Our defence, which clearly isn't great, would be under severe pressure whenever our attack broke down.

I would like to see either Gil or Grealish starting with the others on the bench.

Oh and look what good it's done Protagoras, we've conceded again. You play your best players period and take risks, especially in our position, not shi*** players like Westwood and Richardson who are poor going forward and defending.

The team is a shambles, from the owner to the manager. Team selection constantly wrong.

We are down, I am just focusing on my Fantasy team now. Villa are a mess and should just fold from this league, they simply aren't worth bothering with.

The likes of Richardson, Westwood (who only ever passes sideways) and Bacuna are the sort of squad players that might get the odd game. But to be picked regularly... ouch!

Villa need to copy the likes of Watford and Palace and go for it. That means Traore and Gil playing. And someone up front to partner Ayew - even Gestede would be ok.

Like I say, those others should - at best - get the odd game.

(Now I've slated them maybe Bacuna or Westwood will go on and score today...)

With 3 attacking mids we could well be 2 down. Football is a team game. You play your best team, not necessarily your 11 better players. In any case I don't think we would agree on who are better players are.

Probably best if you don't bother any more. Find another team?

Asking a bit much playing the same team who slogged their guts out against West Ham, so I can understand why Garde made the changes. Okore in particular was due for a rest as he's not long back from injury; knees need care, and he played too much at the end of last season.

I'm less happy with the set-up up front. If he plays Sinclair then he ought to play Grealish; Sinclair needs that sort of creativity around to perform. I'm surprised Richardson got the shout. Whatever, we needed those points and haven't got them. We really needed a win against West Ham, as that would have given us some positivity for this game and Sunderland, rather than desperately trying to stem the tide.
