Euro Election Fall out

If we left the EU then there is no reason to have freedom of movement of labour across borders. The European footballers would be then be subject to the same rules as none Europeans. Football has an amazing ability to ignore national and international legislation. The free movement of labour was only challenged when some idiots at a minor Belgian side refused to let Bosman play for someone else even though the legislation to allow him to had been passed many years before.

So will the top clubs be deporting their non-British star players if we decide to come out of Europe?

I did manage to keep up with the sweaty's choice of union though.

Sheepy - I think that's a surprisingly intelligent question for this forum!
As I see it, there are about 40% asking to leave the EU, 60% in favour of staying put.
However, the Tories want to stay put BUT reduce certain powers of the EU over the UK re benefits, immigration etc. David Cameron has vowed to campaign for Britain to remain in the EU "with all my heart and soul" if he gets what he wants from his renegotiation with the other member states.
Good luck with that!

Will it affect football at all - I doubt it very much. There seem to be one set of rules for footballers and one set for us mere mortals already. I'm sure any changes to the EU will take account of footballs needs!

Deporting football players is stupid.

They earn good money and therefore pay top tax. We want more contribution to this country.

I am not advocating deporting them, I am asking if we vote to leave, will there be a quota on non-British players `working' in this country and will those already here be required to leave.

What I meant to say is that limiting the amount of high earners coming into the country is daft, as it generates a nice chuck of tax income. Therefore adding a quota on PL football players would also seem daft to me.

If we opt out then there will be a 'Australian type' scheme where certain trades, skills will be prioritized. Footballers will, no doubt, be on that list.

Don't kid yourself............... there will be some accountancy trick to make sure most of goes offshore. I bet nearly all overseas players have businesses in their home countries that charges a "management fee" to ensure tax is kept to the absolute minimum?

If it wasn't for people paying PAYE, there would be surpisingly little income tax paid.

I don't want an opt out because I love my free European boarders and single currency, it makes life much easier when doing business. I would imagine that the EU would put barriers to trade up to encourage the EU to buy more from the EU than the UK. Could make life as a European Sales chap more challenging.

I import most of my gear from Germany Iwas and I also do site work all over Europe, so it has made my job a lot more straightforward.

I would have said that a yes vote was a deffo two years ago, but I'm not so sure now!

Same here Scouse, I got 4th in POTY FFS.

There are a lot of negative statements about Europe at the moment and there are a lot of ill informed idiots in this world, sadly with Facebook and Forums these idiots have a place to go where their comments fall on like minded ears which only further encourages them. Likewise, wealthy people can fund a bandwagon to gain some status in the UK. It's all a bit worrying.

Iwas, Scouse didn't want to get into opinions on the 'in/out' just wondered if Dcfc would be in a stronger position SHOULD we enter the premership AND most of the top teams had lost their non European players

It won't happen Sheepy, (players being ineligible if it was an out vote that is), there are too many people with big bucks and a lot of influence in the right (or wrong) places.

Fair enough Sheepy.
