Thought this would happen.
Good luck to Chris Burke, agree with what DF said, he always gave 100% and did more than his share of the 'dirty work'. In some ways abut similar to Jamie Mackie.
With O Burke, Mendes Osborn and Ward, it's difficult to justify keeping a space for him, given the squad restrictions. Good luck to him.
The thing that concerns me is that it doesn't take more than one or two injuries for us to be really short. If you look at the current scenario we are using Ward in the no.10 role. That leaves three of those for out wide and O. Burke is only just getting going.
I suppose we have Cohen as well though.....
...and Reid of course
Calculated gamble. Robinson has obviously impressed on trial so DF wants him in to get Evtimov away on loan. This would be the only way to get that done st this time.
If Burke had put that chance in at Huddersfield instead of hitting the post e may have got a proper run in the team. I think he didn't have the legs to play wide right in a 4-3-3 where the emphasis is on pace on the counter attack. Overall, only saw glimpses of his Birmingham form at the CG in his time here.
My only reservation is that Mendes looks a little off the boil lately. Ollie Burke is raw talent so a lot relies on him playing his fair share of games. Indicates that DF is ready to give him more game time?
he has been a passenger for 18 months at least, wish him well as he did put in a shift.
i had a debate in the summer who was a better player between Burke and Mackie, think Mackie won that one
I think Burke had a bit more nous than Mackie. Mackie was a workshorse, not that that's a bad thing.
also over the summer the other big debate i got involved in was who would be our best central defenders
i said Mills and Mancienne
Save a bit of cash for a player who wasn't going to feature. Looked ok at first under Pearce, but it looks like Birmingham cashed in at the right time,
Never created enough or tracked back effectively. I think it was the Charlton 0-0 and the play broke down every time the ball went to him.
On a different note, Dougie talks about a 15 year old kid and says they both think he's not far away from the first team. I wonder who that is? The kid who scored that wonder goal on youtube?
Burke is superior to Mackie. But he's not getting into side right now so makes sense.
I still think Hobbs is our best CB but Mills has done brilliantly and the balance is better with MM.
Yes, the years probably catching up with Burke. Seemed all over it in the first half of Pearce's season but never really sparked since.
Hobbs is very unlucky not to be playing but Mancienne reads the game so well at centre back. Mills has been good value and is Forest's most productive goalscoring centre backs since Lynch or Breckin. Rarely beaten in the air. Maybe susceptible to pace which is why DF likes his deep lying midfielders.
Mackie is having a far more productive season than burke. If you compare careers mackie has played over 50 premier league games while burke has always been a championship level ( Scotland being no better then championship).
I guess we all look for different qualities in players but i like mackie as he always influenced games, always involved, always wanted the ball and had more quality than he gets credit for.
Btw. Is mills any slower than hobbs?
Didn't think Mackie had played much this year for QPR? He reminds me of Tommy Gaynor, max effort but average goalscoring record.

That's not really the point imo Mancienne is faster than both of them and Mills has scored some very important goals at key points in games/ times of the season/ points on the board.
