Liverpool fans plan walkout protest at £77

Basically the fans are being asked to put their hands in their pockets to finance the new expansion of the stadium. It's part and parcel of keeping up with the opposition so I don't see anything wrong in bumping up the price of tickets.

The more money that comes into the club the better for its longterm future

Supply and demand is just an excuse for greed.

It's not a justification for anyone with any sense of responsible capitalism.

No excuse, but I'm sure if the roles were reversed you would be doing the same.

They are investors.....they want a return on that some day.

Easy for you to say with your £4.50 champions league knockout tickets.

Football, the sport, is a product of no more intrinsic value or interest than rugby, water polo or handball. What makes it a consumable product is the loyalties, passion, history, tribalism, sense of belonging and rivalries which motivate people to give a sh1t.

This is where cunning business people have realised that fans will pay almost anything to worship at their chosen club. Loyalty and fanaticism holds the fans hostage. Football makes more money than ever, but this is its zenith, it has entered a parasitic phase that will ensure its demise.

Nobody force you buy the tickets for 77 pounds.

On the other hand most of those fans complain about not spending on big players but they dont want to pay for the tickets. It doesnt work like that. Those owners have increased the stadium and in return they want the fans to pay for it and stay competitive.

I think they're missing a trick in terms of the atmosphere.

I think subconsciously if you're paying a quid a minute you want to entertained and that's why the atmosphere is going from Prem games in my opinion.

If they want to win football matches then they should structure it like Germany.

Do you not realise that most of those MS seats are currently STH? Prices rising from £800/year to over £1000/year! Not only that - Upper Anny Rd is increasing to £65/game - an area designated for adults and children. Centenary also raised by a significant amount.

Can you not see what the game is here? FSG stated that the new stand would be paid entirely by increased corporate revenue, it now appears that in order to do that they need to shift existing STH out of the MS, their strategy being to do this by increasing the price to £77 for Cat A games. Once those seats are freed up they are going to sell them at £175/game as part of the corporate packages - see SOS site.

Anybody who relocates from the MS to other parts of the ground, Aire has already put this forward as an option, will be reducing the overall number of GA tickets available. Access to the redeveloped Anfield for 'regular' match goers will be made worse, not better.

I urge you all to wake up to this right royal scam and support the walk out before its too late.

t I'm sure if the roles were reversed you would be doing the same.

----

I wouldn't because it's not necessary.

Liverpool and Liverpool fans like to have a culture of 'doing things differently'. Sometimes that's exaggerated for effect but sometimes there is an element of truth in it.

This was a perfect opportunity for the board to show they understand the fans mentality, and to 'do things differently' to the rest of the Premier League.

They could have done that with a minimal financial impact which wouldn't have affected any future plans, and would have secured the fan culture that they appreciated so much when they bought the club and still trade off of now.

They are putting that fan culture at risk by taking the short term view of cash in now.

Liverpool should be looking to be the English Dortmund. We have the manager, the fan base. All it needs is sensible pricing and exploiting the atmosphere that Anfield can create on a good day.

There will be less and less good days at these prices, and the atmosphere at Anfield will continue to suffer and become another library with only a half hearted YNWA to stir any emotion.

Ludicrous from the board, shortsighted and greedy.

Ticket income is an increasingly small amount of income, so this argument is nonsense.

"Nobody is forcing anyone to buy those tickets ffs!"

Debate closed.

y are investors, show me an investor that isn't greedy when they know someone will pay what they are asking for tickets!

They care more about the corporate fans and most of the bigger clubs feel the same. Why sell a seat for £1000 a year when you can make it corporate and charge so much more?

It is a global game and the TV fan(s) will generate the real return via advertising and sponsorship.

"Liverpool should be looking to be the English Dortmund"

Why not just be Liverpool, you can't become a Dortmund type club.

And ultimatley, someone will pay for the tickets due to limited supply and high demand

You are just arguing for the sake of it.

If Everton were increasing prices you would be complaining and you know it.

As I have said time and time again.

It's supply and demand, the demand atGoodison doesn't outstrip supply apart from cat A games.

When my ST becomes too expensive I will become a spectator going a few times a season and a TV fan. But while at Goodison that won't happen

Someone will pay for the tickets, you know it.....I know it.

How many seats are block sold as part of Thomas Cook packages at clubs for inflated prices.....but people still buy them.
