Agree completely. We are a sad state.. Rodgers should never have got the job he simply had no pedigree and look at us now. There is no one player id be sad to see sold...firmino is starting to show quality. But boy weve blown millions

Leicester has proved you do not need money bag signings to challenge for the top 4. As long as you are not in Europe then challenign for the top 4 is achievable. We proved it under BR when we nearly won the league, Man United did it last year even though they were not great. It is when you are in europe as well it becomes difficult, something Leicester will have to face next season.

We need four players for the first team.

Big overhauls don't work and are not needed either imo. Yes we could strengthen in all areas but without strikers we will always struggle. I do agree we need some new defenders and keeper. DM would also be nice. But i don't want loads and loads of signings as yhey take time to settle then the duds need to be replaced

We need for every area a new player.

-New goalkeeper
-New centreback for the defence
-New midfielder
-New striker

I agree that Leicester proved that lots of expensive players isn't always the answer, although I think that if they got into Europe they would be absolutely outclassed. I also agree that overhauls dont always work, and Arsenal are now reaping the rewards of adding a few quality players to a decent group.

However, I don't think we will get into Europe next season, and we should build a quality squad to mount a sustained challenge over time, like United tried to do. With no European football and a much better squad, we have no idea what we would be capable of.

I also don't think we need a new striker, assuming Ings comes back at a similar level and sturridge proves some sort of fitness. Although our hand might be forced if we can't rely on sturridge (which seems the case)

If a couple of our strikers were fit we'd probably have 5 more wins at least

Left back is a priority too

The team is, and most of the players are missing a spine!

The return on investment has been staggeringly poor

BR even made the reserve GK position worse during his time at Anfield. You'd say that 2 players he brought were worth it in Philippe & Sturridge (Obvious injury issues excepted)

I can only assume that SM is marrying Ian Ayre's daughter. New 5 year contract when he's gone backwards as a player in his time at Anfield.History has taught us that you just can't recover from his kind of consistent inconsistency, how any sane senior manager can think its prudent to give him 5 more years is completely bizarre

We've replaced the manager now we need to replace at least 12 of that squad and Ian Ayre who has been administering a fiasco at Anfield for a while now. He has to be accountable for the complete waste of 250 million. He has to go!

Keep Kolo? Seriously. Coach....! You do remember that this is the guy who got a drugs ban at City for apparently taking his wife's diet pills! After so many years as a professional that was the excuse....either that's sinister or seriously a special kind of stupid. Either way he needs to be gone from Anfield as well!

First team to start with needs

GK
LB
CB x 2
DM
CM
CF
WF

The problem is finding people willing to take the dross and compensate the massive contracts many of these wasters have

Agreed, it has been another Roy Hodgson style year, with another period of inexorable decline apart from the occasional blip due to the rare participation of world class players who we inevitably sold so we could replace with rubbish.
The renewal of our GK's contract testifies to how bad things are. Our No1 worry must be Klopp fails to get the support he needs and votes with his feet. He won't want to tarnish his brand trying to recover ours if it's a hopeless task.

I think the priority must be a Goalkeeper, Centre Back and Left Back.

Then maybe a Midfielder & Striker.

We've got some decent players but need a strong spine, and some leaders.

If Ings and Origi had been fit then I think we would be 6-10 pts better off, and that would put us right in the top 4 race.

We need an injection of proven, consistent quality, and more balance to the squad, but we don't need a giant overhaul.

4-5 players switch and we would potentially have a very good squad.

It's just about getting the right quality in.

Top players make over lesser player look and play better.

Who would buy the dross that the OP thinks needs to be sold?

Totally agree with you. Suarez alone made our players better than they are.
We need 3-4 quality players. We have a decent squad but lack a spine from the defence to attack.

The transfer strategy at the club over the last few years and particularly in the summer has been atrocious.

In the summer we go out and sign a player for £32m pound who thrives on crosses into the box and we then proceeded to get rid of the wingers who would supply him! 👍🏻

We have a central midfield that has no creativity what so ever and around 10 number 10's! 👏🏻

Our central defenders can't defend and are big slow and cumbersome but cost a fortune! 💩

And the best of all and a thing which makes absolutely no sense at all is we've just handed a new 5 year contract to a goal keeper who can't do the simplest things right! 🤔

It seems clear to me that a substantial squad overhaul is required.

Agree with this. 9 players needed in the summer, starters too none of this 19 year old wonder kid tosh who we will end up selling when he becomes better. I'd say most positions need strengthening too.

9 starters

Or stick with the current bunch & finish ninth

Yep, that sounds about right. 4-5 starters brought in, relegating a few to the bench, and some dross being sold off. All of a sudden, we ain't looking too bad.

Of the starters brought in though we NEED leaders. Players with mental strength and maybe a bit of extra height.

Getting Matip on a free would be a good start, and Grujic is a promising youngster in the mold of Can, but we need ready-made leaders. We need Gerrard to come back in a time-machine!

Origi and Ings are our future.

Players hopefully leaving LFC in the summer:

Mignolet - just give him away, even pay for him to go.
Sakho - love the effort, but the guys just isn't good enough.
Moreno - Real are allegedly after him. Please elo him, even at a loss.
Skrtel - irrespective of the injuries, he is not good enough.
Midfield - we've got a skipper who cannot score, he does not command, he does not appear to be captain quality. Milner, great athlete, but his best days are behind him - squad player at best. Can - how more frustrating can that guy be, or is he just knackered? Our midfield don't score enough goals.
Attack: I'd keep Origi, Danny, Daniel, in that order. Christane - no. There can be no future in him.

And Jurgen, let the youths have a chance.
