Kieren Trippier

I thought we generally played well, and often I defend Walker when he's unfairly scapegoated....

But he was AWFUL today. Gave the ball away constantly, kept running into trouble, and of course the goal came from a cross down his side where his pace couldn't dig him out of trouble as he'd read things so poorly. I honestly wanted to cover my eyes every time the ball went to him.

Will be much happier to see Trippier starting in our next league game.

They're both not good enough and we need to invest in our fullbacks this summer

i would say we are strong at fullback and don't need to do any business in that area.

WTF, Spurs have four really good full backs. Have you seen some of the full backs at the other prem clubs, they are pony.

Walker however was poor today, and I said Trippier should have started today, he would have given more going forward as well.

I think as the games in the prem are becoming more important now, Poch has to pick his best two full backs and stick with them.

walker was good 1st half, kept sterling v quiet.2nd half he did lose it a bit and was disappointed with him for their goal. But when playing the better teams for me he has to play. Trippier is excellent going forward and hopefully his defending will improve, but he is very easy to get behind if you have a bit pace in your team, think he would have struggled today, and tbf to walker I think he has been superb for most of this season

Walker is first choice at the moment with experience. Legs turned to jelly second half but then that was so for some of our other players too.

Walker had a bad match but Sterling may have been too quick for Trippier. He swapped sides second half to try his luck on Rose because of it.

I really don't see how there is an argument where this is concerned that Trippier is the better player, with the knew system our full backs play as wingers and trippier is 10X better going forward and to be honest is he worse defencively? Walker has some terrible mistakes in him I'm yet to recall a blatant trippier error so far.

Trippier more comfortable on the ball also, regarding rose indeed more effective in this system but his crossing needs to be more consistent.

Keep rotating the two. Keep them fresh.

It happens. Show me a full back who's never been done with a move like that. Besides who allowed the scorer acres of space in the middle? Took more than 1 player to concede that goal

I like trppier and going forward he is superb, I fear for him against sharp speedy wingers, and no doubting that those clambering for him to play will be the first having a go when a speedy winger nips in behind and scores

This is important just frustrates me when the full backs have no end product because they get so much ball in the system we play

Very harsh. Walker wasn't that bad today. He was playing against excellent attacking players. Trippier has been excellent in games where he hasn't to do muc defending - whenever he's been tested he's not looked great at the back.

Horses for courses, Walker is quicker than Trippier and so got the nod up against Sterling

Trippier isn't that good of a defender in fact I think he's very poor. All he's got is a decent cross which obviously is a good thing as we pretty much play wing backs these days.

On walker he was fine, made 2 or 3 crucial interceptions.

How about him giving a penalty away in what I think was his first game for us. It was in about the first 4 minutes of a europa game. Did he do that on purpose then as you cant recall him making any mistakes?

Sterling would have executed Trippier first half with his pace and thats why he did not start.

Going forwards against the likes of Watford who made no effort to attack us great but being forced back and being ofrced to defend agaisnt top quality players is another ball game entirely.

All players make mistakes, Dembele was MOTM but gave the ball away dreadfully 3 times all of them nearly causing us to conceed. One of them Walker made a fantastic recovery to bale him out one that Trippier could never have made.

As for Rose how many times did he give ridiculous free kicks away in dangerous areas (as he always does)? Ok he was brave today and he worked his backside off but lets not get blinded here all 4 of our full backs are pretty average and no more than that.

They might be part of the best defence in the league so far but thats mainly due to the defensive midfield players covering so well. Its not the defenders as individuals that give us a great defence its the tactics and system that MP is employing.

I thought Rose was close for MOTM, there was one great block into the chest from a Sterling volley
