Told you Bucko should have played Igor

Sshhhhhh

You can claim anything without proof Igor. Fans like to make up little soap operas about their club.

Jason Shackell is a quality player. Yes, he's paid a lot of money - but he's twice the player Keogh is. His mistakes yesterday were inexcusable.

After the surrender and submission we showed against Rotherham, Bucko has to come in. Not in place of Shack though.

Shackell has cost us more goals than Keogh this season.

The difference between Shackell and Keogh is that Keogh looks like a rabbit in headlights whereas Shackell always look cool under pressure.

That doesn't make Shackell a better player and, as Griff has said, Shackell has made more errors this season.

I can live with him disrespecting Wassall - that is for them to sort out, although he should have done it in private not public. But disrespecting the fans is another matter entirely.

Bryson, in direct contrast, has apologised publically and I applaud him for that. GT was clearly telling Shackell to come back out as well as he and Martin walked over to the fans. I'm sure there will have been words this morning between various parties.

Shackell either needs to make a public apology or disappear up his own back side.

Whether a player happens to look cool or not isn't the issue, it's how well he defends. Keogh has defended better than Shackell this season, and his distribution has in general also been much better, obviously with some exceptions as on Saturday. Shackell has been pretty poor lately in most aspects of his game. I don't really have a problem with a player being so cheesed off that he just wants to get off the pitch under the circumstances of Saturday but as one of our most senior players he has to shoulder a fair bit of the responsibility of letting it slip in the first place, as does Keogh. It doesn't matter who the captain is: players can lead by example without an armband.

Bucko > Shackell this season, flog Shackell back to Burnley and then Griff can get his mate in to replace him.

Vidal - I agree but looking cool can lead to a false perception of being in control and being a better player than you perhaps are. Whereas googly eyes Keogh looks like he's panicking when he's lacing his boots, let alone actually playing under pressure. The perception (deception) masks the truth.

Jorvik - can't beat a bit of MMA/UFC on a pitch in a local Derby.

Does looking panicky affect the other players? You would think so but most goals which are conceded come down to basic acts of defending such as blocking crosses and shots or winning aerial challenges, and not overall body language or facial expression. Keogh does rather well in the nitty gritty of his duties. The same applies to going forward, as in the "Ince doesn't look interested" nonsense rather than actually looking at what he does and his scoring record.

Some players look rubbish but are actually quite good. Darren Moore was absolutely awful to look at but seemed to be able to be part of a very effective defence in most clubs he played for. I can think of players like Vic Moreland and Matt Carbon in the past who sort of looked quite good but weren't. Then there are players like Claudio Davis who looked absolutely crap but was actually far, far worse. Funny thing, perception.

Not when it costs you the game though Peeder

I don't remember too many times when Buxton as cost us a game. No more than Keogh or Shackell.

Only by luck Griff, not to mention the play off final

posted on 14/3/16

I agree with the play offs, but I haven't seen anything from Shackell recently that says Buxton doesn't deserve a chance.

Fair enough Griff I'd be happy if he was to prove me wrong

Hope so mate otherwise I will never hear the last of it. I don't if you've ever bumped into his dad on the tracks, he works for network rail and sometimes covers Doncaster and selby as well as Retford, Sheffield and lower

posted on 14/3/16

If he's on maintenance I won't of seen him as we work with Works Delivery Sheffield.
Don't get me wrong about him Griff, I think he's been a very good signing for Derby but there's always a time to move on.

posted on 14/3/16

I totally agree, I was hoping in a strange way he wouldn't play for Derby again because there were better players ahead of him. I said last June if Dunk signs he'll never get his place back, tbf to him he could have gone to Birmingham but he reckons he still can do a better job than Shackell and he wants to take his place off him and send him packing for the 2nd time.

posted on 14/3/16

Well fair play to him, if that's the case I hope he gets the chance to make me eat my words

I'm more loyal than convinced tho.
