DAR, I'm not sure what you are getting at (I come in peace, I'm not having a go)?
This is what it says on the website, (cut and pasted):
'A Night With The Lads' is a Q&A aiming to raise awareness of the Active Supporters programme, a Derby City Council and a Derby County Community Trust initiative offering free exercise sessions to males aged 18-65.

Nothing to do with AA (particularly as it was in a bar), just looks to me about keeping a bit fitter maybe?
Anyone else got any thoughts?
scouse.just trying to find out what happened mate.i am getting at the fact this **** went out of his way to upset my lad for no reason except being an interfering plank.my lad just left and didn't see anyone on the panel.it was non of his business if my lad had a drink or not.i took him there so I know he was not drunk.i wish I had gone in with him.but maybe not as I might be with him in the cells for the night
Scouse, think you missed the point he was making. Some ignorant person asked his son who has cystic fibrosis if he was "drunk". Which might have been a bit upsetting.
The only sensible thing to do darley is to rush down there now and start swinging your fists.
DAR, it sounds (as admin said) like some ignorant twerp made a massive assumption about your lad and was way off the mark. There are a lot of idiots around. There's even a few on here, mostly Forest fans I find.
DAR, sorry mate, I did totally miss the point.
As Vidal says, pity you were not there with your lad to put the smart-ar5e who got wise straight. I would've been bloody annoyed too.
I hope your lad is OK
vidals.i asked my lad but he said he didn't want trouble and would not point him out
Darley, there are some real t wats about, some real ignorant self righteous p ricks. If you do something, I'll swear you were with me 👍

I sadly suspect he has experienced plenty of similar experiences. Fair play to him for being the bigger man.
I must caveat.... I remember saying to a guy who had a three step kids and a pregnant wife. "So is this your first?"... Literally as soon as I said it I knew I hadn't engaged my brain. He politely ignored my ignorance and kept with polite chit chat.
Sometimes people stick their foot in it. I've done it myself as much as I would like to deny it.
Maybe the mush genuinely didn't realise: very few people are actually that cntish, probably only Spart in fact.
666, You voted for the party which wants the disabled to pay for the problems caused by the wealthy.

What are you on about Spart?
Everyone on here is well aware of at least one disabled person on their road that will benefit enormously from the 8% cut in capital gains tax!
You couldn't make it up.

On the plus-side, they're no longer asking them to pay for pretend 'carbon reduction' schemes and I think we should all be very grateful that those faux-science vanity projects, introduced to placate the 'global warming' scaremongerers, have finally been put where they belong, in a nice deep landfill.
A climate change denyer as well 666. Are you really TEG? I take it you weren't very good at science at school. All that nasty maths and concepts. Much easier to have a mythology and then you can make up your own rules.
Spart - are you a climate change believer then?
I'm not suggesting we don't have some impact but its minimal compared to the impact of Mother Earth's own natural events/cycles.
I think the point 666 was making was that planting few trees in Shropshire isn't going to save the world.
Peeder.
I am a rational thinker who can weigh up the evidence and come to a logical conclusion. The evidence is compelling. There is a demonstrable mechanism and masses of observable evidence. What more do you want? Most people who deny it don't want to believe because in order to do anything about it impinges on their profligate lifestyle. I suspect you fall in to this category.
Was aguing with an idiot the other day who was saying it was all a scam by big business. He couldn't understand the point that to do anything about it means buying fewer consumer items which is not in the interest of big business. He then accused me of being in pay of big business. I asked him which ones so I could invoice them. This is the calibre of people who are climate change denyers.
The easiest thing we can do to reverse it is to move to a less animal protein based diet. Are you prepared to do this?
I suspect you fall in to this category.
............................................................
Then you would be entirely wrong, and a fool to boot (ALTHOUGH I ALREADY KNEW THIS)
I recycle everything the local system will allow; drive one of the most environmentally friendly cars in the market and have, as it happens, paid for over 200 trees to be planted in the last 10 years at various projects I have been involved in (football clubs, schools etc). I have a grey water system and all waste food is composted. I have solar panels and an air source heating system courtesy of my Swedish friends.
I do way more than anyone else I know and still feel that I could do more. But do I genuinely think that I'm making any difference to global warming? NO! Not really.
Why?
Because
(a) recycling and green energy doesn't really work - most of what I sort carefully into one of the 6 different bins/boxes get lumped together at the land fill and the cost of making/buying the air source heating system will far outweight the savings I will make or the natural resources it will save
(b) with one volcanic explosion, sun spot or El Nino moment, Mother Earth can (and does) wipe out any good that I can ever do.
You say that there is proof of global warming and I agree. However, I also believe that the globe changes itself with or without our impact. How else do you explain Ice Ages, formation of mountains etc.
We are but a small part of a much bigger equation that neither I or you will ever understand.
"...and a fool to boot."
Sounds like a great idea; perhaps some kind of sponsorship could be arranged, with all proceeds going to sending Quorn burgers to Syria, or something.
Recycling often uses up more resources than it would have taken to manufacture the stuff in the first place and should only be used as a last resort. Not buying the stuff in the first place is the key but repair and reuse are preferable. I am no fan of recycling except for certain materials such as glass and metal.
Ice ages are caused by Milankovitch cycles and the inability of ocean currents to alleviate the effect. The last lot only started up when the land bridge in central america close preventing warm water flow between the Pacific and the Atlantic.
Air source heat pumps are a reasonable solution if there is no gas supply. The net effect is similar to having gas heating. Lower than -5 you need supplemetary heating. I am impressed by your choice Peeder, I am a big fan of them.
Always wary of environmentally freindly cars as most of the CO2 is embedded during manufacture. It is probably better to keep a Range Rover than buy a new Primus.
Formation of mountains is due the movement of tectonic plates. These move due to convection currents in the Earth's mantle caused from heat developed from nuclear reaction at the earth's core.
Hope you feel enlightened and I still say the best thing you could do is reduce your consumption of animal protein.
Je suis 666 says. 'On the plus side,.........
When will you see, there is no plus side? Except maybe that Gideon will never become PM. Surely??
He is just trolling again 3R.
Maybe he's Rolling rather than strolling.
Spart - I knew all that already (my Dad was a geology lecturer) and I don't eat meat!
YOU LOSE!
I don't lose, how can I lose by stating the facts. So why did you say that ice ages and mountain ranges were a mystery if you knew the current accepted theory already.
Respect on the meat, hope you include fish in that. The fishing industry is just tax payers money going to fund ocean species depletion and extinction.
I was a mere carpenter's son but then we do have a track record of coming good.
