Did he come out and back Moyes in a similar way or was a bit more quiet when Moyes was here?

He rarely speaks to the media nowadays to be fair. Can't remember him being interviewed in Moyes' season
I'm pretty sure Sir Alex came out and backed Moyes twice in his tenure, so did Sir Bobby.
He will always back our current manager imo.
Having a quick look back he made some supportive comments of Moyes in October of the season he took charge, these are very early in his tenure so can probably be ignored.
These others comments are from March though so after Moyes had been in the job a little time.

I think when you compare and contrast to his comments backing LVG one looks a bit more bland and more like what you should say whereas the latter LVG one certainly has more behind it, It was actually an interview about it as well rather than some comments made at a ' party thrown by British Consul-General Chris O'Connor in Los Angeles ahead of a visit to the Oscars tonight'
Impossible for any of us to say for sure which is heartfelt and which is the backing he would just publically give anyone but I can't help but take the whole interview more serious than a one off comment.
Other than the one made in October (when he'd basically just started the job) and the March one I mentioned is there another one?
Don't know what the OP is talking about...
Fergie had no reason to back LvG if he didn't mean it. He could have just kept silent as the club has done up till now.
Luv Fergie...

No surprise fergie backed LVG and United. He backs everything United. As soon as leadership start showing signs of unrest, it transcends through the whole organisation.
Plus his comments about LVG bringing through youth were bang on.
When we bought Di Maria and loaned Falcao, some pundits (Sky and TalkSh*ite) were asking whether or not we'd turned our back on youth. To be fair to LvG he's answered that emphatically in the last two years, playing, what? about 10 players under the age of 21 at one time or another.
He has played the youth but in the least suitable way possible. By relying on them rather than blooding them properly.
Our season has been wrecked because he went into it unprepared and when injuries hit (like they hit every side) we had untested youth players come in.
I have nothing against the youth players whatsoever and hope a couple of them actually one day make it as United players but this is not the way to bring youth players through.
Back in 95/96 we had a pretty stable set of players around these youth players with plenty of leaders there like Peter, Keane, Bruce, Gary and Cantona. So the likes of Beckham and Neville had leaders to fall back on.
Now we have a chaotic side with no leaders and these youth players are playing in some of our worst games. Have we seen McClair since Bournemouth? Did it help Varela be embarrassed against Liverpool?
I'm not entirely sure why people take umbrage with what Fergie said or are trying to make out he did not mean it.
What exactly did he say that is inaccurate or false?
“It is dead easy to be critical,” the club’s former manager told Sky Sports. “You have to be realistic about some things. The number of injuries he has had: Phil Jones has played only seven games this season, Ashley Young, [Antonio] Valencia, [Luke] Shaw, these are big losses. It doesn’t matter which team you are, if you have players missing of that calibre it has to have an impact on the team.
“The other aspect which is always easy to forget, there are five new players in their first season at United and two are young players in [Anthony] Martial and Memphis [Depay], and their promise is good.
“You have to have some patience being a Manchester United fan and they have shown that over the years; in Matt Busby’s time, in my time. For 150 years of history it is worth having a couple of years on the quiet side of success because they will always come back and come back strong.”
Ferguson said: “He’s given nine young players their debut – I think the future is good. Rashford is an example of what I think is Manchester United. They are the one club in England who will always identify a Rashford and give a young kid a chance – there is no better club in England at giving young kids a chance. Rashford is a sensation and one of the best in years.”
What is wrong with these statements?

LvG has always played youngsters, I think he foresaw that they might be needed this season and was happy to put them in, from his point of view it hasn't been a mad scramble to cover for injuries.
Some of the youth players have played major roles in some our best performances this season, the little spurt of life we saw a few weeks ago was off the back of them doing so well.
If anything, I'd say it was the more senior players who have been poor this season and the youngsters actually jolted some life into us.
