The pressure we put in young players ruins them in this country. He is a good defender but no way near £50m
After watching him this season I'd pay no more than £20m
Same story with Barkley 18 months ago.
Seems that nurturing youth isn't a Martinez strong point,
Gomez looked better for us at left back in 5 games than I've ever seen stones look for Everton in 2 and a half seasons.
Do not get the hype surrounding him at all. Never seen anything to suggest he'll even reach someone like Winton reids level
Same thing happening with Dele. He is riding a crest of a wave and in a purple patch....we all know that won't last and the moment he has a bad patch the media will knock him down.
Sadly this is what we do to young english players. Hype them up so much they think they have made it. Only have to look at the clowns at arsenal for example. £50Mil for someone who has done nothing.

not really sure what his talent is!!??
Not a WUM but I've seen nothing from Stones that I haven't seen from Callum Chambers. Both look comfortable with the ball at their feet but poor defensively
I still like Stones, think he got shoved into the limelight cause England generally don't breed center halves who like to play the ball on the deck.
Time away from the glare could do him good, oh and a manager who can set up a defense would help.

I hear there's plans afoot that once Terry retires, they're gonna set him and Rio up to get pumped daily by big Sol.
All it takes is one strong swimmer and you'll have the next Bobby Moore

Center back farming is all the rage these days
I think he's got potential, obviously, but has been overrated to a ridiculous level.
It says a lot that whenever getting praise from either fans, or ex players etc they only ever talk about his ability on the ball, being able to run with it, pick a pass or turn and bring it out. His actual defending never gets mentioned.
He's weak in the air for me, and gets bullied by bigger strikers, and can be caught way out of position sometimes.
If the only attribute that matters when rating a center back is ability on the ball, then Daley Blind is the best we've had in decades.
The English FA and press are desperate for young players to come through and in turn they place ridiculous amounts of pressure on them. This is why players such as Sterling, Stones, Barkley start to drop.
I think Stones is going to be exceptionally good.
When Kane had a drop in form early in the season people were saying he was a flash in the pan. He came through that and is better than ever. Stones probably needs some time out and definitely shouldn't go to the Euros so he can be ready for next season. I'm confident he'll come through this and be all the better for it.
He was woeful lastnight. Terrible
He's a good player without a doubt but he's still learning his trade. I'm not sure whether it's the press, fans or both but as soon as a young player has a decent run of a few matches there's this premature hype. It was the same with Sterling.
I do wish people would pipe down and let our young players learn and make mistakes without the rediculous amount of pressure that's put on them.
Always seen him as massively overrated and haven't seen anything yet to change that view.
His defending is bilge, and his much vaunted passing from the back is hardly Hummels.
He also seems to pick up injuries quite a lot.
Could easily see him going down the Rodwell route.
Chelsea dodged a £50m bullet.
I will go with Rio Ferdinand, he will make mistakes but how else will he learn. You can have a shocker up front and not get as much stick as you will at the back.

he looks poor when put under defensive pressure though....great when no pressure and he can walk out with the ball.
cant see any clubs paying big money for him this summer
That's not a problem for me.
I am happy for him to stay and develop with Everton
He's crap. Called it ages ago
Wow he can pass a ball. Cant bloody defend though so what's the point.
Not saying he doesn't have potential which he does but is so overhyped
He is crap.....
But you cover yourself by saying he has potential......where is the chicken smiley?
Sure you commented straight after i called him an overrated donkey on a thread about him in the past
Im sure you covered yourself long before this derby knowing you'd get battered by claiming this was our cup final
