Could potentially face a ban of 2 years, and will almost definitely have one handed to him of at least 6 months.

If he is handed the full amount of two years then it's very serious, in which case I'd expect the club to release him immediately.

He's been a complete idiot and has potentially ruined his career at Liverpool. Might have to move back in o France and try to start again.

So disappointed.

If that's the case has the club got any legal protection regarding the money lost?

You'd think the club would monitor what the players are taking?

Recent wins in the league and cup and his performances put liverpools reputation at risk

I'd be worried about the whole Spurs squad being investigated if I were you. Haven't won the league in 55 years, haven't finished 2nd in over 50 years to them all of a sudden become title challengers. Very suspicious.

This really could be the start of something huge. If FIFA /UEFA/The FA really start looking into drug use, does anyone think Sakho is the only one? Are Liverpool likely to be the only team with a drug cheat? Highly unlikely imo.

give it a few years and they'll probably be able to tell through sweat or something and swab every player at the end of each match and feed it into a 'puter for instant results

I once met with a young guy who was on a big PL club's books as a youth, but who sadly didn't make the grade at the final cut.

He told me that, even as a youth, all players were banned banned banned from taking anything, even aspirin, a week here any game. That's was the law then in his club, and I'm sure that same law applies.

For Mamoud to claim ignorance, for him not to seek advice from the club doctor is an insult to our intelligence. As a player I love him to death, despite his continuous 'bambi-on-ice' antics. But this is unforgivable. If proved, and it doesn't look as if any explanation is going to convince UEFA otherwise, then he's headed for a long ban, and deservedly so.

He's let the club, the manager, his team mates and the fans down.

What a ludicrous argument

Ludicrous argument or not, NO person involved in sport who trains most days should have any need for diet pills / fat burners. If Sakho had extra fat that he needed to lose then he should have been training harder.

It's not an argument, it is a fact that they can mask the use of certain PED's.

He should be aware of what he is taking and that football has a banned substance list. No excuse for taking these even if it were a genuine mistake. Would say the same if it were a player at Goodison.

Not exactly true, this just follows the whole calorie deficit method of dieting, which is old fashioned and basically wrong.

Basically pro athletes have to stuff themselves full of calories, the rock eats something like 6000 a day, that's three times the amount of a normal person, it can't all be lean proteins or it facks the liver.

Certain carbs can add quite stubborn fats, a player could in theory add some fat to their diet, take a fat burning pill at the right time and be digesting calorie rich stores during a game.

Sakho says it's innocent and he stupidly dident look in to a supplement properly so we should trust him, saying "this must be why the doctor was sacked" is like guessing 1+1 is 3, the doctor was likely sacked due to poor player conditioning "hamstringing" our season when klopp came in.

He's accused of taking ephedrine which isn't a diuretic to mask a PED it is infact a central nervous system stimulant and appetite suppressant and fairly common in bodybuilding circles.

It CAN be found in over the counter medicines (such as bronchaid) and I expect this to be the excuse used by Sakho but even if it were true (which I have my doubts about) then he's an idiot for not checking it out first, ignorance shouldn't be an excuse in this day an age.

Liverpool have nothing to do with it though, by all accounts the club have suspended him before he's been banned by the FA or UEFA, it isn't a terrible substance or massively advantageous other than being leaner and lighter but it is definitely banned so no excuses really

Ignorance isn't an excuse.
