As an addition to the above, Darren Ferguson said that our biggest problem all season has been inconsistency. He says we should not have lost to Sheff Utd, Scunthorpe and Colchester, we should have beaten Blackpool, Shrewsbury and Chesterfield. If all these had been attained we would obviously not be in the position we are.

He also said that his biggest asset for the position we are in is expewrience, almost 10 years and each one dealing with the pressure of looking to win the Division, making the play offs and also trying to avoid relegation. The relegation was from the Championship and not League One to Two, but the situation is the same.

Nice work NY.

I have set out my thoughts on what is needed to preserve our status and I put my faith in Blackpool failing to achieve maxixmum points from their remaining fixtures (Wigan (H) and Peterboro (A)), the first of which is hopefully unwinnable.

As NewYankee said some time ago, Crewe and now Peterborough have a major role in this contest, Crewe at home to us and away to Fleetwood, and Peterborough away at Shrewsbury and then at home to Blackpool. Walsall have beaten Shrewsbury for us and they need to deal with Fleetwood similarly.

If we do not win our remaining two we are down whatever happens, so 6 points is essential.

Fleetwood will have a better goal difference if they win either of their last two on 51 points, which would put them out of sight.

Shrewsbury already have a worse GD, so we can afford for them to get 1 more point and similarly Chesterfield who have a better GD now (-13) would go to at least -14 if they lose one out of 2 and draw the other and so finish below us. In the meantime we are already on -14, but if (as we have to) we beat Crewe and Burton it will improve by a minimum of 2 to -12 and thus be better than Chesterfield's. We do not have to worry about Shrewsbury's, because they stand at -17 already, so if they lose one and draw one it will go to at least -18.

If any of the 4 apart from Blackpool win tomorrow they become uncatchable, irrespective of what we do. They'll either have more points than we can get or in Fleetwood's case have an unassailable GD.

It all seems a heck of a lot to expect, but we have to remain optimistic.

I checked the Crewe website and Steve Davies has said he expects his players to be professional in the last two games as they can have a say in the outcome of who gets relegated with them.

He wants them to play well and not give anyone anything. I also watched their Oldham highlights where they lost 1-0. I know I am critical of the highlights, but this did show that Crewe can play some good football, they just have problems at both ends. They don't score many and they have difficulty defending but in between they play well.

Let's hope they defend badly again tomorrow and that we defend as we have recently, that should get us to the last game.

Ifs, buts and what could happen. All part of being a fully fledged Zigger 😊

Have to win both our games before we start to look at other teams. I did a quick for cast last week and it ended up with us getting relegated on goal difference 😢
Just hope it goes down to the last game with something to play for. Think we'll win by 2/3 goals tomorrow, putting extra pressure on those around us.

Morning All,
Another game, another cup final. The penny seems to have dropped in the last two games and after all the doom and gloom of the previous few months with belief and desire running through the team.
The fans have never given up and have backed their team in their numbers.
Momentum seems to have turned Rovers way with the added bonus of teams above dropping points.
On to today's game.
Will be interesting to see how we get over the loss of Gary McSheffrey who with Tommy Rowe have been instrumental in most of the goals recently.
Nice touch of Gary to go with the team to Gresty Road today.
Fergie sign him up.
Crewe have nothing to play for but pride but that can be dangerous as they have a point to prove to the fans on their last home game of the season.
We have been in this position twice in our recent history and this should stand us in good stead against Burton next week.
Here's a thought:
Bury can return the opening game fair play favour by beating Chesterfield today.

Final score at Bloomfield Road Blackpool 0 Wigan 4.

One result gone in our way.

Gresty Road pitch is waterlogged at the moment, it has just started to rain again and the kick off has been put back 30 mins in the hope of the game going ahead. If it does it could be a lottery on a pitch like that.

If called off it has to be played on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Only one side of the pitch is under water and it has now stopped raining, hopefully it will go ahead but with a late kick off.

Hope this doesn't turn into another Chalton. If that hadn't of been called off we'd of still been in the championship. Surely not another relegation due to a waterlogged pitch.

You never know, and don't call me Shirley 😂

No scoring yet in the crucial matches, although we know draws in them are not ideal.

Where is Biltcliffe when we need him?

I will try and keep up with the commentary if possible.

Sounds like Bucks is doing the analysis.

Rovers to kickoff.

Close shave, Crewe countered and Saunders one on one with Matthews, pulls his shot wide.
